I detect a touch of sour grapes, as she asked a difficult question of The Chosen One??

I work on the basis that that both Labour and Tory Parties have grumbled about her in the past. To me that suggests a good and proper level of impartiality....(y)

Be interesting to see how Emily Maitlis handles him in the TV debate...

Me thinks you've been drinking too much god again.

She may not be standing to become PM, but she could have considerable influence on all things political.
Therefore. She should not shirk away from being subject to personal scrutiny.
Come off it! She has zero influence, and is hated by the right and left in equal measures.Shows she is doing her job right!

Haha.
Heard Stanley on LBC radio a little while ago.
Hearing between the lines.......
Sounds like he's moved from being a Remoaner to a brexiteer.
Also sounded like he'd threatened Joe with dis inheritance unless he supports his brother.
Boris is the man for the job.
As the lazy bugger he is..... He will surround himself with all the right people to get the job done.
Not like Maybe, who went behind the backs of all her staff and cocked the whole thing up in her own image.

Says he will not do Channel 4 debate as there will be to many contenders.
Well bugger me Boris there is another 600+ in the house of commons and even at the easy peasy EU level a mere 27 others.

I suppose you can be both “very, very bright” and “ghastly”. Or, how does one prevent the other?:scratchhead:

I don't know, but I do think that we all tend to overstate the 'ghastliness' and other less than favourable qualities of those we dislike. He is, or so he seemed to me, a particularly bright and affable fellow; but having the ability to get on well with people doesn't necessarily mean that an individual is genuinely pleasant. It could be that it is all an act but, then again, it might not. :scratchhead:

He is not my first choice, that being Michael Gove, but I would take him in preference to any of the candidates who did not back leaving the EU before the Referendum. It is a case of once bitten twice shy for, hypothetically, had TM done a fair job and had got us the workings of a decent agreement by last Autumn and then needed to retire on health grounds, I would not necessarily have been against another Remain campaigning PM, depending upon the individual* - but not now, my trust has been lost.

I wouldn't necessarily argue with that. I read his biography of Churchill and thoroughly enjoyed it. But intelligence is only part of the requirement.

True, see above.

*It may surprise some that, Brexit and the EU aside, I like Ken Clarke and think that he would have made a pretty good PM. And there a few others too, including Amber Rudd; but not now. (y)
