Boris,EU and Ukraine

It is saddening that people are beating up domestic arguments in this matter; ffs, Putin will attack other countries if not stood up to, Ukraine will not be where he stops, and those who ignore history repeat its mistakes, and this would be a huge one.

Boris did exactly the right thing in going to Kiev, and again, just as other PMs and presidents have done. We can't risk a nuclear confrontation being initiated by direct involvement, that is plain. But we can do everything in our power to help Ukraine win this, which it can and will given enough support.

As for the EU, if Ukraine chooses to join, so be it. My guess is that it will and for much the same reasons as Poland did, and will join NATO eventually too, Fine, expect long memories from the Eastern states regarding all this; but of course they will remain in and part of the EU as long as they see it in their interests to do so.

And even if now we could look to a future when the EU will be doing wrong to the UK, I'd still say work with it and its members now to see that Putin gains nothing from his aggression and terror. It's the right thing to do both strategically and morally.

Look on the brightside the two of them are candidates for a dose of novichok.
Probably quite true, but a revolting thing to write in this context.

Boris seems to have endless chqs to write out and making promises ,to look good. But it’s maybe time to get a grip on his own countries problems .If Ukraine joins the EUROPEAN union where does that leave dear Boris with any trade deals with them.Let’s face it Boris and Miss Truss are not liked by Putin and I wonder when all the dust has settled which countries will turn their backs on us and look after each other in Europe.
Russia is in the wrong but wars are in many countries ,the world is changing for the worst too many politicians trying to be prize cockerill.
Boris and his MPs have their heads in the sand only raising them to look big .
Ukraine are fighting hard to save their country and need all the help they can get,but I fear what will happen in the future for this country if we even have anything left to sell.
Its the young ones that will pay a heavy price for todays mess.
they should be buying some of that cheap Russian oil instead of imposing sanctions on their own people

Maybe a stupid question but if they left interest rates low and ride out inflation rate surely the economic benefit would be better for business and everyone .The rising costs of fuel etc are out of everyone’s control, raising interest rates won’t do a damn thing for those who have money to spend .I went past a big out of town shopping centre on Friday ,the car parks where almost empty yes it’s May be working but soon shops, cafes, business will be closing along with industry

There was a Not the nine oclock news sketch once along the lines ‘Regarding the death threat to Mrs Thatcher 15 million people are helping the police with their enquiries’
It’s the same really you can be offended if you want to be.

Have a look at Turkey's current dreadful economic situation due to Erdogan's total lack of economic understanding and dogged refusal to raise interest rates.
