Whose fault was the election ? She called it and then went AWOL, its almost as if she wanted to lose it ??? It's funny how it's only the losing side that complains about fptp when they win next time they fo nothing to change the system, Germany uses a different system and looked what happened when Merkel sold her soul to the greens to stay in power,
The “winning” side are unlikely to complain, after all they have gained a majority of seats despite not gaining a majority of the popular vote.

Is it a two slice toaster I wonder? If not, time to turn the dial up to hottest setting to get Boris out of the way, because there is another very worthy individual, needing browning on both sides…

I suspect Boris's grubby little trotters are all over this story.

It amazes me how many people stick their fingers in their ears and close their eyes to the state of the country just because it is the tories that are doing it. If labour were doing doing it they would be on the case immediately

It would be different people on the case, different people with their fingers in their ears

The reality is politicians and the ruling classes (there are good uns but they seldom get to the top) are as corrupt as each other regardless of political party. It's mostly about how much they can extract from the system before their turn is up. The tories are in the firing line atm as they're running the show and stories about little known shadow cabinet members won’t sell many papers.

What I don't understand is that these people are supposed to be amongst the most intelligent in the country yet they don't seem to realise there is always someone with a phone taking pics or recording them.

That's an interesting thing to write, 'the state of the country' bit I mean. What position do you think it would be in now if Jeremy Corbyn had been in Downing Street since 2019. Or, if Sir Keir Starmer - the 'socialist' knight  - had been able to implement his chosen policies during CV19 and the current situation?

I think we both know and will admit that it would have been catastrophic under a Corbyn 'administration'; but what about Sir Keir? During CV19 he never, I repeat never managed to suggest a policy for implementation before it was the bleeding obvious course to everyone.

I had a very long argument about that with a good friend who is in Labour - a London borough councillor - and we went through all of his (Starmer's) criticisms of Boris and Co during the covid crisis. We couldn't find a single instance in which he suggested anything preemptively that turned out to be the ideal choice; but we did find dozens of statements about what should have been done, all based on the knowledge of hindsight.

And then what about now, are you going to blame the inflationary situation on Boris, really? What about Ukraine and the global situation...?

I look forward to a detailed list of precisely what's been done wrong that was obviously so, without a Starmersque benefit of hindsight. :)

My recent post aside, I've heard a couple of rumours from sources close to some very pro-Brexit and libertarian Conservative MPs, that they - the MPs - are talking with some liberal-remain colleagues about how to force a leadership election... 😐

I suspect the damage he is doing to their election chances must be obvious to even the most ardent Borisist by now?
Self preservation is kicking in.

Not sure, because I know of others who think otherwise. More on principle for the Brexit lads, they simply think he's not done as promised, the liberal-remainers just want Boris gone - not sure they've thought it through though, because the only candidates likely to succeed Boris with the necessary Parliamentary and Party votes (and both are needed) are strong on Brexit...

I'm just posting it because I heard it, if I hadn't I wouldn't have raised the matter.

You will get it right one day...
There were rumours at Labour's conference about some of their MPs joining the Conservatives. Now there are the same rumours at the Conservative conference, and even a number... 3. I have no problem with this sort of thing and I guess they've seen the light, but then I'm a Tory at the moment.
What happened there again?

I understand the Sunday Times quoted a figure of 6 talking with Labour about a change of tie.

What’s the betting they’re all ‘red wall’ MP’s looking for the easiest way to keep their snouts in the trough?
What gets me is the 2 biggest gobs in the tory party are arch brexit boys , thick as pig sh!t
Say it again , single market by 2025 , if not before

Nah, one thing about the EU, they won't put up with the UK in...out....in...out....in....out...
We made our choice. And the right one too. Considering we don't do / make anything useful any more, lazy gits not wanting to work, covid, and the lingering recession since 2007, I think the UK is doing OK. Plenty money for holibobs, demand out stripping supply for new cars, housing market still booming, no sign of folks cutting fuel usage even at £2 litre........

What party will do it?
Being pro eu lost labour lot of their seats up here in north.
Both sides want those seats..
Corbyn was a euro sceptic!! In reality his non sensible policies lost Labour a lot of votes. Nothing to do with me but if the Tory party want to continue in power they would be wise to ditch Johnson. People in the north/south/east and west don’t like dishonesty. Johnson and his defenders claim he’s no more dishonest than the next politician, many voters disagree, I don’t think they will change their minds.
