They did, because of a global shortage, and because BoJo’s sell out of NI meant that we avoided the ‘no deal’ tariff barriers to our main market that @bobk seems to think we have.

Are you trying to suggest that prices are good because of Brexit?
We have no deal for lamb in europe , and jesus they need it , the offerings in france are pitiful

i totally agree with what you say, but it must be a uk thing, not an eu thing, manufacturing is still serious In France, Germany and Italy for example 👍
all water under the bridge now🤷‍♂️
Our governments seem to have encouraged it more than others, but plenty of German firms now import parts/components and completed product from.cheaper countries, if you buy say a Bosch tool it's often far east based production etc, perhaps the countries you mention are the next ones in line to lose their industrial might, lets face it everyone knows Germany pushed the euro so hard so they could help their exports, merkel sold out her coal industry and nuclear industries for cheap russian gas to stay in power, that doesnt look so clever now

at our age do we care?😂

No.
Do you?
Of course not, only a simpleton would.

I'd be reluctant to blame or give credit to Brexit for very much since we don't know how things would have been otherwise.

I've never cared much about how the vote went, nor do I care if theres a united Ireland or a break up of the union or whatever, but I notice that when speaking to those of an EU persuasion that when anything bad happens in the UK it's down to Brexit and never the war in Ukraine or Covid. Likewise when listening those of a pro Brexit persuasion the bad is never caused by brexit and our idyllic future is being held back by covid and the Russian invasion.

I think there is a fair bit of delusion going on in both camps.

yea, fortunately I do t see my kids getting stressed about whether john Deere in germany buys some parts from india🤷‍♂️
They will when it affects their ability to get a job, the problem is we seem to have created a society which looks to the government to solve every issue, farmers included. I guess as I have lots of time atm recovering I have the time to think about where the worlds gone wrong

If we look back over the last 40 years of being in this wonderful free trade area we can all see the decimation of our industrial base, how many countries have left the uk to go to eu countries which have lower costs than us, now some of that is down to our political leaders who dont get the fact that you have to create wealth before the clever city guys can sell us investment products etc, even now those in Westminster dont, wont,or cant see the problems we are soon going to have with food supply let alone the cost of it, their solution seems to be let's import it and give the poor some money so they are happy.
The political class, the civil service and media are so far removed from reality that they are leading us into a situation that could end really badly.
Thanks in no small part to Mrs. T, heroine of many TFF‘rs. She totally f**ked up proper work and working classes, in favour of pin stripe shysters.

Except for the fact she got the Japanese car companies here which revolutionized the way many companies worked, we wouldnt be producing a single car here if not for her, the miners destroyed themselves, had they and a few other unions and management changed working practices as the new car industry did they could have survived and might have even thrived.
Compared to all the other PM we have had in my 60 plus years she was the best by a mile, my how the countries of the world could do with a few Maggies

They probably can. I bet one of our daughters in law was disappointed I survived my op, she would love a lifestyle of selling a 150 acres of building land.
As you well know ,life is short, maybe you and your partner might enjoy some of the lifestyle that building land could bring
