Reflecting on the Jennifer Arcuri affair, Rod Liddle writes ...

“For some time before then (the affair) Boris’s irascible, mischievous penis had been pogoing around London, perhaps of its own volition, from one willing partner to another, leaving behind a trail of the forlornly transgressed as well as some tousle-haired children”

Doesn’t half conjure up an image ...

Better than unwilling partners at least🙄

As someone who has been married ( to the same woman) for 23 years and has two children ( with the same woman ) i do wonder what it says about society that we have elected this bloke who evidently has less morals than a tomcat to the highest office in the land. Surely people only had to look at his track record of marriages , affairs and kids all over the place to realise he’s a wrong ‘un but it really seems someone had a plan to get him to the top. In previous elections no doubt the opposition would have raised his personal history as a reason not to vote for him but it seems being an absentee father to numerous kids from numerous women whilst not just confined to inner city council estates is something no one wants to say is not a good thing . Yes he’s a laugh and i admit i thought he might shake things up a bit like Trump but then again for a selfish morally bankrupt society maybe he is the right choice.

There’s a lot of truth in that. But life is full of perplexing contradictions.

I think you have to blame the pack of idiots that now represent the so called "Tory" party, in Maggie's time the vast majority of Tory MP's had a bit of honour but now it is stuffed full of spivs far too many of which are from the legal profession.
No self respecting sucessfull business man will touch them with a barge pole.

You can defend Billy Bunter all you like DrW. Billy Bunter is a rum 'un. But the Tory faithful luv 'im. Says a lot really.
Not sure that he was defending him, as he says there’s a lot of truth in the post he quoted.
So why didn’t the tories put up a better candidate for pm?
And why didn’t the opposition put up a better candidate to oppose him?
Makes me wonder if there is anyone better, maybe Borris is the best there is.

Unfortunately true. Some of the comments could provide some more constructive suggestions like the Monster Raving Looney Party perhaps.

You don’t put the best person to lead the country forward you put the person who is most likely to be elected forward. Unfortunately it isn’t about doing the best for the country it is just a big popularity contest.

Yes, thank you, that is what I meant and should have said. General Elections are a popularity contest. Which is what Amber Rudd was alluding to with her comment made during the televised debates during the EU Referendum campaign.

Tend to think the Tories missed a trick by not electing David Davis before Cameron, he's ex army from an ordinary background with it would seem more common sense then all the rest put together.

I’m not really a Boris fan but he has blundered us forward for want of a better description.
He was the man to clear the Brexit log jam and I don’t think he’s done badly on covid. I don’t like his morals or the faux green popularity contest but I feel he does have British interests at heart. Who else is there? It feels strangely reminiscent of the time dad used to throw a ladder up the side of the church and put some slates back to stop a leak. He nearly came a cropper a time or two but he got the job done. Now it all has to be done properly with h and s and three tenders so it’s too expensive to do it at all and the church ceiling is falling in and it’s closed.I feel that’s how it would be if Ed Davey or the Labour man whose name I can’t even remember was in charge. We’d still be waiting for supplies from Brussels if they had had their way.
I don’t think there will be another Boris though. I think gradually individuality of approach is being stamped out and the next government will be back to committee style consensus as per Theresa May where nothing of any significance at all can be achieved for fear of offending somebody.

Agree that both other parties in opposition are a hopeless alternative which is depressing, unfortunately think most of the cabinet think Boris is well out of his depth & now on borrowed time, this does't help when he is dealing with the EU who probably think he is amusing but without any respect for him as a leader!
