Grow more fruit and veg - two farms that currently grow field scale vegetables have applied for large solar farms, one has been approved and the other is awaiting planning process. Even though they are geographically quite close but in different planning areas I wouldn't be surprised if the second one was granted too.

Can't say I blame them. Certainly not having access to a reliable work force is a factor.

Indeed @Wolds Beef .And I'll bet with that combination you are supporting as much wildlife as anybody else while still running an efficient farming operation, making the most of the terrain available.
We have no "schemes" here other than some awkward corners in pollen mixes unpaid other than standard BPS, along with our mix of arable crops and bit of grass, and I have never seen so many bumble bees about the place. They love the OSR and field beans, the watercourse banks and small area of woodland.

@DrWazzock I was in ELS/HLS until Nov 2022 but have done some sums with my agent(who is my cousins son!) and have extended for 1 year to watch the SFI develop or disintergrate!! I have planted the odd Tree or 2 as my daughter(who has ME/CFS) enjoys making and demonstrates the making of Christmas wreaths. I also have started putting Holly around the Farm for the same reason. I have built 2 bug Hotels to my own design, out of Brush and other bits and pieces and also I am erecting some bought Bug and Bee Hotels given to me as presents.
