there is a limit on how long the country can be shut down for, so what happens then ? Another spike, as it stands at the moment, finding a new, or old drug, that works. a vaccine, or herd immunity, are the realistic answers, not a very nice thought.
on the news now, USA talking about burying people in public parks, no room in morgues,
other countries have massive 'temp' morgues.
anyone still think china only had 3500, deaths ?
We need someone like boris, and we must hope that he comes through this, he has worked hard to try and keep the country going, a nearly impossible job, and people saying he hasn't done enough, well he certainly looks like he has, at personal risk.
It's time politicians, etc, stop faulting everything, and work together, to try and get the country through this.

I don't believe it is 95% or anywhere close with "very light symptons". It may be 95% for those under 40 but it certainly isn't if you look just at the population above 40 years old. A few days ago NHS figures showed 99% of all confirmed cases in the UK by April 2nd where over the age of 40!

No end of people have had the virus and don't even tell the NHS that they have had it so the figure of 95% is what they are saying is the amount people that have had the virus but don't show suffer that badly from it ( unlike the other 5% sadly )

Yes it could and about 95% of them will have very light symptons.

The problem is that any vaccine is at least 18/24 months away. ( if they can find one )

You cannot keep the country locked up and shut down for anything like that length of time so sooner or later a lot of people will have to be exposed to getting the virus.

That's the problem, a vaccine is years away!

The country cannot carry on being shut down and people being all but locked into their homes for the next 2/5+ years.

Sooner or later we have to get back to work/ have a normal life.
I said a long time ago the solution is to brick everyone over 70 in their homes and the rest of us keep going... but hospitals are getting too busy so right now so it is means bricking everyone over 50 into their homes... once hospital pressure is reduced those over 50 who wish to be allowed out can apply for a sledge hammer to be delivered with their groceries..

Yeah, under laboratory conditions in vitro. Now you need human trials.
Apparently they wont start for a month at least. And it will be many more months beyond that beforeit was "approved" mean while thousands of people are lying in hospital dying with no hope of survival.

Anyway we obviously dont agree and ill leave it at that. Hope Boris pulls through.

The above post of mine you quote is the harsh reality sadly.

Not saying its nice but its what it is.

Article on the BBC news site tonight of someone with possible terminal cancer that cannot get treatment due to the virus and will die if they don't get treatment..

Where do you draw the line?

Because at the moment just about the only illness the NHS is treating is the virus, all others have been chucked out the door, how long can this carry on for and how many will die from this policy that shouldn't have in normal times??

Listening to the various commentators on the radio I think you could be near the mark with certain age groups let out and the rest made to self isolate - probably by legal charge. And I hate to say it you might be right and over 60s made to stay at home - which will scupper me. So far I have been able to go about my daily business but if there were road blocks with requirement to produce a passport or photo drving licence - well. Hey ho.

This virus will be around for years.

Thus why a lockdown should only be used as a very short term measure to help the NHS get ready for an increase in people needing care.

6 weeks is the max that any lockdown should last!

I really don't get your kind of stupidness but credit where credit is due... with all your informed postings I do admire your dedication to it.(y)

If the virus is around for years then that is a very short time when you consider a million years is not even a blink of an eye in the grand scheme of things
