How sad that with such a hopeless buffoon ostensibly ‘running the country’ there is no credible opposition.

Any half decent opposition leader would have had so many months of leisurely turkey shooting at this wretched government.

But all we have is Sir Keir Starmer - whom even his best friends call ‘Mogadon’ - and the Tories easily dismiss as ‘Captain Hindsight’: and a motley assortment of lightweight and inexperienced career driven Labour MPs with no real credibility whatsoever.

Where are the latter day political giants such as Dennis Healey, David Lloyd George and Aneurin Bevan who would have held this inept lickspittle coagulation of corrupt little Tory non entities to account for their ineptitude?

Here in North Shropshire we will soon be having a by election after our Tory MP Owen Paterson has had to step down.
I’ve got to say that I’m rather disappointed that in such a true blue area as North Shropshire which I believe hasn’t seen anything other than a Tory MP in over a 100 years can’t put up a local candidate for the Conservative party but instead has opted for a candidate from Birmingham.
There again, as a local farmer who is pushing the new Tory candidate said to me today, the people of North Shropshire would vote for a turnip if you put a blue rosette on it.
With an attitude like that, we get the politicians we deserve

Boris certainly fits that description

I find it rather disturbing that there are folk out there, plenty of them, who will literally vote for a candidate solely on the colour rosette they wear.
As I say, we get the politicians we deserve.
I strongly believe that North Shropshire would be better off not getting a conservative MP at this by election, it might make the Conservative party take note and select a good local candidate who would work for the good of the area rather than someone from off who I’m presuming is someone they’d like to slip into a safe seat.
That and the fact that if anyone else got in they’d know they’d have to perform to keep the seat in 3 years time, but what would i know, I’m not a true blue Conservative although one has been around to have a word with me, try to straighten me out as they don’t like some of my comments on the subject on Facebook

Do you not find it equally disturbing, that plenty out there will never vote for a turnip, just because it does sport a blue rosette?

Yes, very annoying to see a parachuted in candidate. I have seen some suggestions/polling that it will not be the usual walkover, but your penultimate paragraph sums it up. sadly.

I remain surprised that an anti farming MP like Pritchard, in the Wrekin constituency continues to get support.... But this seems to be a widespread occurence.

Thats because farming doesn't matter anymore to them. Most of the tory voters won't be in ag so as long as they get to roam about the place why should they care!
It is a real shame there isn't some one charismatic and erudite in another party (and I don't say that because I think that's what the wan-ker in chief is, he's a buffoon) after the Libs decision to have their disastrous coalition its a 2 party state. Or in Scotland a 1 party state! The only thing keeping them reasonably honest are the blue wall MPs, a lot of which may get the chop next time unless they show big changes. But even with those seats will we ever have a labour got again, less seats in scotland and wales!

To clarify.
Many would never vote blue, red or indifferent, just on principal, regardless of if the candidate were the best politician ever.
Ahh, now there’s a difference between the best candidate ever and a turnip.
But yes you are completely right, but I’d hazard a guess that in the main, those who wouldn’t vote for certain parties regardless of the quality of the candidate are also the ones who only vote for one party regardless of the quality of the candidate
