It is quite possible that the Tory Party, in their thirst for perpetual power at any cost, will sacrifice either or both N. Ireland and Scotland to independence, probably Scotland. They will pretend that they want them to remain in The Union but actually welcome their independence, knowing that without Scottish MP’s and constituencies, they are most likely to remain in absolute power in Westminster and over the rest of their dominion for many decades.

Boris appears not to want a referendum in Scotland and bungs them plenty of money to stay with the English. They would be in a right old mess if they had to rely on Sturgeon.

Yes, rid us of those snp and lab MPs having a vote in Westminster while our MPs have no vote over the border.

Here in North Shropshire we will soon be having a by election after our Tory MP Owen Paterson has had to step down.
I’ve got to say that I’m rather disappointed that in such a true blue area as North Shropshire which I believe hasn’t seen anything other than a Tory MP in over a 100 years can’t put up a local candidate for the Conservative party but instead has opted for a candidate from Birmingham.
There again, as a local farmer who is pushing the new Tory candidate said to me today, the people of North Shropshire would vote for a turnip if you put a blue rosette on it.
With an attitude like that, we get the politicians we deserve
Vote him out then.
they tried that in Ludlow in 2001 and the whole of the constituency voted against the Tory candidate. A local Tory councillor (Philip Dunne) won in 2005 and has held it with increasing majorities ever since (although hopefully he will get a bloody nose next time as he is well past his sell by date)
The Tories tried to push in a bloke called Martin Taylor smith from London.

for Oswestry, it seems that the Birmingham doctor does have some links to the area, but in my view, the whole point of constituency politics is that you have local politicians

Mrs May very nearly lost to Corbyn and would have done if the Grenfell Tower fire had been a week earlier.

Boris thrashed Corbyn because he is likeable and electable.

Why so many posters are knocking Boris I don't know, when farm prices have never been so good.

I like Boris and hope he wins the next election, but I don't like all the green krap, or the tax hikes. However they would be greener and higher with the reds in charge.
Why are so many posters bashing BoJo?? How about because he's a serial liar, in public and private life, without a shred of personal integrity? And incompetent with it. Farm gate prices are good for the moment but he's doing his best to bugger that up by signing trade deals with NZ and Australia.

I won’t be helping to vote him in.

As I understand it, he worked for 12 months at the Robert jones and Agnes hunt hospital which is his link to the area.

So he’s been in the army, became a doctor, is currently a barrister specialising in cases against the NHS and now wants to be an MP, not sure how old he is, no more than 40 at a guess, it strikes me that the bloke doesn’t know what he wants to do/doesn’t stick at anything too long

I’m hoping Helen Morgan will win this time . At least she is local , not from Birmingham

But then you'll, maybe get an offshoot that splits the vote, libs!

Well, in a way they do! Who sets central taxation from which expenditure is then sent about the place? Who determines defence policy that is for us all? Rather get rid of the freeloaders in the devolved govts, they basically bribe the greens with extra salary in made up jobs.

That’s the way my vote will most likely go this time, I know a few others, folk you’d consider traditionaly Conservative thinking the same.
But a 230000 majority will take some over turning, especially when there’s such a lot of choice which could well split the vote of disenchanted Conservative voters.
Then there’s the ones who will never vote for anyone else, one local farmer has been around to have a word with me after I’ve shared a few things on Facebook from other parties...........with the deliberate intent of winding him up, it worked he’s been around to tell me they’re all lefties and the only ones who will look after my interests are the Tory’s.

I am of the opinion that a change would do good if only until the next election, might make the Tory’s think and not take us for granted as a safe seat for a while, indeed a change this time would probably be the best chance the conservatives have of me voting for them next time. Although I’m more a conservative at heart, I haven’t voted that way for some time as I was no fan of Owen Paterson so have been using my vote as a protest vote, not that it’s made a lot of difference.

I would like to see a change this time but I’m not expecting it.

Just that would stop me voting for him, regardless of the colour of his rosette.😡

Is it a coincidence that the canvassing in North Shropshire is just stepping up a gear, and @Bald Rick disappears for a week or so?🤔

Have they ever been seen in the same room together?;)
