I see the glorious leaders latest million pound vanity project has been revealed to the public. Unfortunately the Union flag is upside down. Flying it as such on a ship means "Distress" and it is also "lese Majeste" (which means: insulting the Crown). Did the designer have a sense of humour. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

That is one thing that boils my p155, folks who patriotically want to fly the flag, but can’t get it the correct way up.
Unbelievable that is on Boris’ plane.

It’s not the Union Jack flag on the plane it’s the Union flag so is correct so I am told!

The "Jack" really relates to the size and position. It was originally a small Union flag flown from the bowsprit on a ship. And later on a small mast, the "Jackstaff" was used on the bow, but generally only in port.

A bit subjective as to which end is the flagstaff - I'd have said it was forward so the flag would trial the plane in flight. As a pedant, I checked and was content it was okay.

Quite like it too - better than the old grey.
Makes it much more visible to the aircrews refueling and an enemy, or are we to assume, that we are now down one of a very limited asset?

These days, our enemies tend to attack even softer targets. I suspect that the asset is still fine for refuelling out of the immediate theatre, and would be just as visible to a military radar if it was painted in see through paint.

Bit similar to American soldiers wearing the stars and bars backward so it shows an advancement into battle, like the flag blowing back from its mounting.

Mil aircraft can be repainted in a temporary finish surprisingly quickly when required, something the RAF had to do with a lot of airframes prior to GW1 according to an ex Crab at work, so not really much of an issue if they have to use it on ops.
