Bought a FJD kit

Back in the winter I bought a FJD RTK retro fit kit and finally got round to installing it recently. Got a chance to use it the other day drilling maize into rye stubble and it's awesome. Not really a GPS expert so wanted something simple and modular, no point paying for functions that I'm never going to use. But looking forward to going round the farm after harvest, mapping field boundaries and setting up A B lines ready for Autumn drilling. I seem to end up doing a lot of drilling in the dark so this will be helpful, and I was a bit surprised how much it sped up drilling without doing three point turns on the headlands. Might save a bit of compaction in a wet time.

Bought the kit off @ERH Services Ltd who I can't complain about, back up has been really good and I wouldn't want to try the more advanced stuff that the kit can do like U turns without some help and advice to get going.

Always held off on GPS but glad I made this investment. Just don't let your dad drive into low buildings with it on 😭🙈😤

Fitted one on my tractor this year as well. Had problems but backup fantastic. Only using it for coverage on my already tramlines, Looking forward to using it in anger. Would help if I was computer speak savy ha ha . Two major things need sorting, Desparately needs a remote coverage on/off switch, (told they are on to it) and it needs the base station to be run off a 12v car battery in the field as it`s own batteries will not last a long sowing day. steering wheel ok to use BUT it sticks higher up,(n)

I've had two other fresh makes of these auto steer GPS flash up on my phone this week. Do we think plenty of compertition might bring the price down to a price where us hobby farmers could justify on our drilling tractor?

Chuffed with mine too. Great on drilling this Spring and all operations where there are no tramines.

Bit of a faff fitting as I needed to mod the steering wheel mounts, so it took me a while to fit. Once I pulled my finger out it was all relatively easy. Kit seems well put together. I'm pondering a 2nd unit...

The initial support from China was good, however the Youtube videos leave something to be desired as a support measure though... Good that there are some UK sellers now.

Looking forward to the software Updates with end turns, although I was chatting with an experienced autosteer user on his JD*, who reckoned it was a waste of time....

Links???

I know that there was another Chinese unit coming on the market, and Alibaba has a number available...

I see Fieldbee were dropping their prices now.

I am contemplating on it but before I put serious thought in it they have to get a decent steering wheel instead of that stupid boyracer thing.

The steering wheel feels better than it looks to be fair. It's probably more comfortable than the JD one that it replaced. The FJ logo might not be to everyone's tastes but it's not something I worry about.

My main objection is that it isn't rotationally symetric. They should have known that tractor steering wheels don't tend to go back to the same position everytime which make a non rotationally symetric steering wheels an no no.
For some it might be a detail but for some reason it really really bugs me.

I have an equally spaced steering wheel to try, I'd be happy to supply that one for you if you wanted a system.

That's a great description :)

I have seen mention of this one before. https://sunnavag.com/ Some of the "cheaper" units seem to be more basic than the FJD model.

The integrated motor and steering wheel seems to be a common theme which appeals more to me than the strap-on Fieldbee offering.
And they must have heard me... ;)

Fieldbee have just launched a new integrated steering wheel for their system and dropped the price a bit to compete better with the Chinese offerings. Trouble is, all the little extras such as wheel position add up here and there...

I still reckon their software is streets ahead of the Chinese kit though.
