these are going well. No blocking, low disturbance, low power too.

Very impressed with your tine wear.

I fitted a set of Bourgault VOS on my CO4 350ha ago and have lost 3 feet in my last 3 days drilling. I haven't found the feet yet so I can't be certain, but I suspect that they are breaking off due to heavy wear above the front toe, as I see small holes in the metal on some of them. My 350ha with 16 coulters is 22ha/coulter, compared to your 1600ha with 24 coulters and 66ha/coulter. Below are pictures of the wear on mine. I am direct drilling into kind, light soil.

After losing the first 2 feet I took out the Allen studs and re-Loctited them, then promptly lost another foot on the next outing, so I don't think this is the cause.

Excessive wear at the front and very little wear at the back makes me wonder if they are raked back too far in work. I've got the older, vertical breakaway springs with new flipper plates and pins. The nuts are wound down to show about 75mm of thread vs the 40mm recommended but may need to be squeezed even further.

I mounted the legs in the upper pair of holes as I found it hard to get depth in the others. Looking at the offset of the other holes I'm wondering if this is some of my problem.

Any experinceView attachment 906147View attachment 906148View attachment 906163 or comments would be appreciated.
We run the bourgaults on a sw9 have just replaced them having done around 1700ha (30 Coulter so roughly 56ha/Coulter)! Have you got the hook welded on the back of the leg to hold the point? We used to loose a few due to them fracturing around the hole think we have only lost one since doing the modification two years ago!

Just bought a 3m Horsch Sprinter PPF with original Duetts.

Do I have to change points to DD or do the duetts work? I just got a price to change to VOS 4082 at almost 4 400 euros. I think thats a bit much.

Only cereals on medium to heavy clay. Winter wheat after spring oats is my first job todo.
We found the duets had a tendency to smear the in anything but perfect conditions on a lot of our ground!

Thanks wuddy. I'd love to see the hook as I considered this but couldn't figure how to do it.

Yep! No hook on any Ive seen yet! That seems like a good improvement. Did you have to weld on or did holder come with hooks? Do you have a link or part number please? Also the tips seem different to what Ive seen. Doesnt seem to be the lip for the hook. Seems to be two versions of vos🤔. If you had a pic of yours I would appreciate it as am confused🙃

that’s not dissimilar to what I need up making ourselves to reduce the wear issues of metcalfe, It was an impro re seed tube wear but don’t solve the point problems, hence my move to VOS now
Thought the Metcalf points wore well? think guy had a few thousand acres out if his, both clay and sandy soils. There were worn down a bit more than he wanted but held out for the new legs we made. I'm looking to make my own points for the legs going forward. To many other irons in the fire to do it before the winter though .

on our soils we lost tungsten tip very easy and then wear was fast, they didn’t like our stones

on my version we used feobide which was no better really but at least we could mig it back on ourselves

I see how that would bigger the job in stoney conditions. Although silver braze is strong it's carbide is brittle when it comes to irregular impact. Ferobide I haven't found to be any better apart from as you say welding it back on.
Some thing I'm working on is a point with carbide grit welded to the front instead of a carbide tile. Ugly but reduces wear a lot and not brittle like a carbide tile.

Our originals didn’t have the lip for the hooks and didn’t have the tungsten tiles either side of the fert hole

Thanks Wuddy, just to clear this up for me, There are two types of coulters: One with hook and one without and there is a weld on hook mod made by bourgault?
There are two types of vos tip: One with a lip for the hook and extra tungsten tiles and a plain one?
Do you have a link to the ones you have or a part number as I cant seem to find these "new" type. Or a contact to supplier for these please?
I plan to change my gens after winter crops sown and am trying to decide b vos or dutch.
Thanks a mill.
