Bout Marker?

Well I have been tinkering about this afternoon, and borrowed a mates fish tank air pump which I connected to a twin cap 20 Ltr. drum through the small cap. an inch pipe from the big cap connected to an inverted funnel into which I fitted a piece of 1/4 inch mesh. Hey presto, Abra cadabra it works, producing blobs of foam with nothing more than water and Fairy Liquid. Now all I have to do is make a frame and put it on the tractor. When I get it done I'll take a few pics and post them on here. Thanks for all the help boys.

I've made 3 or 4 over the years, tyre inflator from Halfords,5 gall drum,a few bits&bobs and a bit of trial and error and you can see where you're going for £20..

I use fencing pigtail posts. Have the wife and childer trained to set them out, have a length of baler twine just for the job :)

still trying to figure the holy grail of truly cheap, but accurate GPS.

Making your own blobber really is easy, saw it in Practical Farm Ideas many years ago and decided to have a go myself and it was a revelation.I'm no great engineer by any stretch..

I have a foam marker on my sprayer at home. Don't think marker is working. It came with the sprayer. It's just a tub with a pump blowing air into it.
Cheap 12volt compressor is about all you need. There was one in practical farm ideas a few years ago

Practical Farm Ideas www.farmideas.co.uk Write marker in the search box and it tells you the issue in which it appears. Some articles are available as a digital download. I made one myself in the late 80s. A Deosan drum which you fill with water and a decent amount of Fairy Liquid. A compressor (my Zetor had one fitted) with a tyre tube going to the bottom of the drum. A 1 1/2 in pipe which only goes to the top of the liquid in the drum with an old welly on the other end whith a hole cut in the sole. Fix it to a frame of some sort and mount it on the front. The air bubbles the mixture and creates pressure in the tank pushing bubbles down the big pipe where they collect in the welly and then drop like a cow pat. The line is easy to follow and the pats last long enough to chase back to the yard for your second load. If it's more than 45 mins I'd put the plastic lids out. The blobs make an accurate guide over 8 - 10 metres.

Here's mine, made after seeing the fire extinguisher version in pfi all them years ago.
Use proper foam marking fluid, and have seen the blobs last overnight, depending on the weather
The cheap Halfords compressors don't last all that well, usually about 12 months, their only rated for 20 minutes max running time, they get hot and pack up not long after. I have a half decent viair which has a much better duty cycle, and has lasted quite a few years now.
