Raising an old thread.............. got the appointment letter just before Christmas. Will receive the "DIY" enema pack in a couple of weeks.
Downside for me, its "at work" and I know the majority of the staff on the ward are what one would call totty!
One hopes there are no adverse reactions to having a nubile young wench furtling with your downstairs regions. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::stop:
I went for my camera up the jaxy appointment, maybe eighteen months ago. Overall it was no drama and I would heartily recommend it to anyone offered the chance to go, to accept it. Having lost friends to Bowel cancer, I know how bad it can be. It feels mildly uncomfortable, but not at all painful. Interesting to watch the monitor and see your own insides. Way the worst bit for me was recognising two of the technicians carrying out my procedure, or to be more accurate, them recognising me!

Not nice lemony flavour drinks .
It's even worse if you look as they are approaching you hind end, it felt like the fire mans pole scene out of Bridget Jones minus the tights!:ROFLMAO: Moviprep is the worst of all the prep drinks, feels like you are drinking wallpaper paste, there is another that you can request that has a more pleasant taste and massively smaller volume iirc it's called Picolax and tastes a bit like soda water

Just to add as an aside ( this is an area ( pardon the pun ) that I am very familiar with as I have Crohns disease. If you have a flexible scope it is not really a problem for most, however a full colonoscopy is a different kettle of fish! I personally would never have a full scope without a general.

Moviprep yuk I can taste it now, took me ages to drink a litre of that stuff!!, mind you that’s the worst bit over with as the procedure is nothing to be afraid of.....didn’t know they had started until I looked at the screen, soon looked away again though!!, they give you a mild anaesthetic to relax you I didn’t feel a thing didn’t know they had finished until I see him walking away & the nurse said it’s all over & nothing found except divadicula disease ( think that’s how you spell it) but they reckon it’s nothing to worry about as just about every male over fifty has it.

Was invited for my screening check and eventually attended yesterday evening.

Procedure lasted 10 minutes, some peculiar feelings from the gas used to inflate what is normally the exit pipe!

I felt sorry for the lady driving the scope as I did what I was told and "let it go" in true Frozen style, doesn`t smell as the enema an hour before flushes the bottom end of the system.

*Top tip..... leave the enema somewhere warm before inserting. (y)

Enjoyed watching it on the "telly" and suggested they sell DVD`s as side line.
Tiny little bit of Diverticulitis , described as a "worn inner tube as a result of your age and diet".

She spotted a polyp on the way out which looked huge on the screen but was only 1mm , the pincers that grabbed it go up the same tube as the camera then it is deftly removed with a high tech cheese wire. Thats gone off to the lab and the result is due back in a week or so.

Having a chat with the team (as its "at work" I know them !) and they are working 9.00am till 8.00pm 7 days a week on screening but only 50% of folk take up the invitation!!

We had a good laugh and it was well worth getting done!

Had it years ago. Did a questionnaire afterwards asking would you go through it again. I said if its to save my life then yes.
