He said a few good things regards being paid a fairer price for our produce but i think its still going to be a win for the big farms with land spare for environmental schemes, these farms have done most of the damage over the years and will now be paid to put it right. I would still prefer for subs to be stopped in five years and then good profitable farms of all sizes would survive over the rest, any support just props up unprofitable farmers.

After his comments advising sheep farmers to diversify into beef, do you think what comes out of that eejit's mouth has any merit?:banghead:

What is this 'fairer price', and how will it come about? Or just platitudes to the faithful to distract from the other hand whipping away support in the document due to be published today?

Remember that those 'unprofitable farmers' that are being propped up also have their life savings invested in their businesses, have kids in the local schools, help other businesses to survive in rural communities, etc. I wouldn't wish bankruptcy on anyone and a country populated by large 'efficient' farms is a desolate place IMO. The further East you travel in this country, the more evident that becomes.:(

Thankfully, this business's prop is showing as in the bank tomorrow. Part of my job for today is taking a couple of split pipes to the local hydraulic centre for repair, pop into the local electrical factors for a few more bits & pieces, into a local ag merchant to pick up some sheep wormer, and a ram into my local vet's to check on suspect fertility.
