Breather pipe oil leak more than normal (alot)

Breather and filter appear to be fine, have cleaned best i could and still have the prob. going to compression test this week, service injection pump and start from there. More than likely tear it down over the weekend and rebuild then i know for sure shes all good

Thanks for all your reply's. I'v done an oil and filter change with a 30 grade oil and also made sure the air filter is clean and breathing freely and given it some hard running to hopefully allow rings to free up from any carbon. So that didn't work fully but did help. The amount of oil breathing has reduced and does stop when it gets warm. However when engine is cold blows out about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of oil. still really hard to start without some start ya barsteward.
I'm thinking its time to pull it down and rebuild pistons and maybe bores. Is this correct or is there something else you recommend? Is there a way to "dam" up the breather some more to allow oil to feed back in whilst warming up? Once tractor is warm it runs like a dream. I suspect that it has had the help from a can to start for some time but it dosen't have that rugged Ether knock that they get yet so hopefully not to much damage has been done
If it's now addicted to easy start for that first cough on a cold morning, the rings are likely as worn as prolapsed porn star

A couple of hours flat out work blowing black smoke from the exhaust might help to put some grip back into the piston seal, but could also be the cure that kills. At least then you'll know for definite that it needs honed bores and a rebuild.

To be losing a cup of oil before it warms up isn't something minor that'll go away itself
 
When you say rebuild do you mean new rings or proper rebuild??
Are parts available in your country?
Also worth checking radiator is doing what it's supposed to do and check fan blade is clean

So to update as its been a while. The engine is buggered. The compression test relieved that it will need a complete rebuild, new liners the lot. Added to that the valve train is shot, the wear in this assembly is huge. I have had a stroke of luck and been given a whole complete engine with good compression and starts really nice. So i decided to swap out the engine and put the current in the corner as parts or maybe rebuild the bottom end one day

Have you seen this engine starting really nice or just taking someone's word for it??

The bottom end is easy enough to rebuild so i really have no concerns there but the valves etc - well we have never seen something so worn out and I'm not sure about the rest of the word but getting the required parts in NZ is hard without just getting the whole engine, importing parts is ok but with NZ being so slow to recover from the pandemic getting things into the country is a nightmare

I'm lead to believe the trans and breaks is why it was parked up and he had another of the same tractor but in better condition so just held it for parts

yea for the bottom end is easy and not to bad on price but the vale parts i need you cant buy new. Im happy with doner engine and its priced right at free
