Brexit again.

The EU is a 'small state'! It's a union of states, some big some small.
Not sure what your point is? I was merely trying to put some perspective on the whole Brexit EU situation which I was attempting to say is in my opinion a relatively small matter globally. As I’ve said many times before I voted remain but always felt the EU direction was one which didn’t sit well with me but others decided so that’s that. Common market yes, political integration and ultimately remote control - no thanks.

Do spare a thought for Tim Westherspoon Brexit Martin.
The poor man, reeling from the shock of not having enough workers due to EUlanders, turning their back on the sunny uplands, has now been dealt another blow. He’s running out of beer. No Budweiser, no Coors, no Carling.

Oh dear….
But isn’t this the wake up call the UK has needed for an awful long time, for too long we have paid shirkers to stay at home whilst hard working EU youngsters have done the hard work, that should end now don’t keep telling our kids they have to go to further education to then expect a better job!

Oh I see. That’s how Brexit works. The shirkers volunteered to shirk no more, once the EU grafters were sent packing. Excellent plan.

But isn’t that the truth, ask any farmer or veg grower trying to get young Brits to work, all too often they don’t want to know & expect to become management immediately.

If he is so bad why do his pubs succeed where others fail, you may not agree with him on Brexit but your reply seems to me more hateful & does not reflect well on you!

Speaking of Brexit, I stumbled on this classic post from @Exfarmer , which really does deserve to be taken down and dusted off. Well worth a couple of reads over a good single malt….

“Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the single market”. Daniel Hannan, 12/5/15.

“The day after we vote to leave, we hold all the cards and we can choose the path we want”. Michael Gove, 9/4/16.

“British people will still be able to go and work in the EU; to live; to travel; to study; and buy homes and settle down. There will continue to be free trade and access to the single market”. Boris Johnson, 26/6/16.

“Getting out of the EU can be quick and easy - the UK holds most of the cards”. John Redwood, 17/7/16.

“There will be no downside to Brexit, only a considerable upside”. David Davis, 10/10/16.

“The free trade agreement that we will have to do with the European Union should be one of the easiest in human history”. Liam Fox, 20/7/17.

“Most of the EU states are very sympathetic to our view”. David Davis, 15/5/17.

“I believe that we can get a free trade and customs agreement concluded before March 2019”. David Davis, 18/1/17.

“Within two years, before the negotiation with the EU is likely to be complete, and therefore before anything material has changed, we can negotiate a free trade area massively larger than the EU … The new trade agreements will come into force at the point of exit, but they will be fully negotiated”. David Davis, 14/7/16.

“There is no plan for no deal, because we’re going to get a great deal”. Boris Johnson, 11/7/17.

“But we didn’t vote to leave without a deal. That wasn’t the message of the campaign I helped lead. During that campaign, we said we should do a deal with the EU and be part of the network of free trade deals that covers all Europe, from Iceland to Turkey. Leaving without a deal on March 29 would not honour that commitment. It would undoubtedly cause economic turbulence.” Michael Gove, 3/3/19.

“I’ve looked carefully at ‘no deal’. That outcome would be a failure of statecraft”, Boris Johnson, 9/9/19.

"I can indeed assure the hon. Lady that there will be no crashing out, because we will negotiate a great new friendship and partnership within the timescale. I know that hon. Members on both sides of the House have every confidence in the Government to do that. " Boris Johnson, 22/10/19.

“We have an ‘oven ready’ deal, let's put it in the microwave, as soon as we get back after the election on 12 December." Boris Johnson, 31/10/19.

“Our deal is the only one on the table. It is signed, sealed and ready. It puts the whole country on a path to a new free trade agreement with the EU. This will be a new relationship based on free trade and friendly cooperation” Conservative Party Manifesto, 24/11/19.

But wasn’t the problem that the majority of MPs on all sides refused to accept the outcome of the referendum, this immediately gave the EU the upper hand in any negotiations as they truly believed that eventually the UK would back down & have continued referendums until they had the result that they wanted, even now Bozo is giving the EU free access whilst they make our lives as tough as possible.
It is our politicians that must shoulder all the blame for the mess we are in not Brexit voters!

nothing to do with Brexit, it the way he runs his business

you think your getting lots of choices in beers, truth is be buys stock that near out of date, often buying it very cheap as the supplier has no choice to sell. he well know for treating his staff like sh!t, special the kitchen staff, there been a few WS here caught "recycling" uneaten food.

during lock down he refused to pay his staff wages there were due, only after it turned into a massive PR cockup did he back down. and then refused to pay his suppliers for goods already received.

from memory wasn't he caught in some scheme to avoid tax

it easy to become a millionaire when you pay your staff sh!t, refuse to pay your suppliers and don't pay your taxes.

as i said give WS a wide berth and support your LOCAL pub

It’s all a nonsense that certain commodities are now harder to get from Europe. Now maybe it’s out customs causing the delays which is self inflicted and will be dealt with at the next election and it maybe due to the supplier of said goods - I don’t know but the sooner we realise we have to trade kkke any other non EU country, the better for all

I now note it’s due to driver shortages. We have plenty of folk who want to become drivers so we need tk get on with it

I would guess there are far easier ways of becoming a millionaire then trying to keep a pub chain afloat, we can all easily criticise people who seem to have made it on the backs of others but few of us have the guts to try, he may not be a saint & Weatherspoons is not a pub I go to but an awful lot of people get employment & enjoyment from what he has made.
