It was peaceful considering Tommy Robinson was leading it, but that was mainly due to the small number of protesters.
'Peaceful' is, of course, a relative term; but from the perspective of someone in Eurotopian France I guess it would have seemed entirely tranquil.

Any truth to the rumours that Macron consulted with his Berlin boss before caving in to the mob? :scratchhead:

That is the problem with people like you, you are too occupied with getting at Tommy Robinson and not praising the action of the organizers and the people prepared to stand up to a bullying government . Tommy Robinson was not leading it,he just happened to be in a frontal position, and I wonder if there were any farmers who took the time to go and support the march if they believed in it. Maybe your avatar name says it all?.

If it was not Tommy Robinson's march why was there a counter demonstration by anti Fascists? They don't generally turn out just for UKIP, do they.:scratchhead:

Don't think so. If he wants a mature woman's advice he doesn't have to go that far. ;)

Do people in France think that there is a 'democratic deficit'?

I don't really know. I think there were unreal expectations of Macron, new man with a new party promising lots of major reforms. All this looked great to a lot of folk, until they realised they were going part of these major reforms. As they now see it, that wasn't part of the deal. So they end up taking to the streets as this has historically got better results than the more passive methods of sending letters to MP's and signing petitions. It was interesting to see that even places like la Reunion in the middle of the Indian ocean had gilet jaune protests, showing either the widespread dissatisfaction or the power of the web.:scratchhead:

For one I did not see any fascist,I saw a march against this governments handling of the Brexit issue, and the lack of progress made by a large amount of ordinary people.
All of those people would challenge anyone calling them a fascist,it is mostly used by groups to try and label anyone that they do not agree with.
The same people who are the so called anti fascist will turn up and attack people who go hunting, who are involved in the meat trade , who are against mass immigration ,etc, etc.
They are able to get anywhere en masse at anytime,a lot of them are students, unemployed people , the children of rich parents etc, etc. So don't just think that they are only against people who want the best for their country, they are against anyone who do not fit in with their views , and probably will visit near you sometime.
