Brexit - It's Being Killed Off

Noticable isn't it, that since the general election, Brexit is being described in ever more soft terms. Almost daily now, government hard Brexiters rowing back stroke by stroke, in their previous positions. In many cases positions taken on Monday are softened on Tuesday, under the guise of clarification naturally.
Out now has morphed into a multi year transition embraced by erstwhile hard Brexit positions. The racist language and tone of the Tory party conference, now morphed into a "long term " view of the needs of business!.
One could say the Hammond view in the government is swiftly becoming policy!

It's merely a matter of time now until the subject of completely killing off Brexit becomes the popular discourse of the nation. At a very minimum the matter of having another referendum will not only be a matter of discussion but a policy play by Labour. In fact that very canary has already been released into the mineshaft!

So what are you saying?
You don't think the UK will leave the EU?

Ultimately I predict, a way will be found to let the people have another say on this. The final deal will the subject of a referendum.

The political system is far too riven to be able to push anything more complicated than free breakfasts for disadvantaged schools through parliament. Probably be able to get the bacon and egg through, but would fail miserably if a bit of black pudding were to be included!

It would be advantageous for UK to stay in EU, but it is clear that major changes are required.
I believe that the entire EU is starting to see that Brussels policies need to be revisited.
If UK decides to stay, it can lead the change and prosper.

I'm sure they're trying to kill labour/Corbyn off, the only reason they did soo well was because all the Ukippers thought a hard brexit would be safe with Corbyn, every time they back peddle abit, the polling for them reduces and Ukip's rises, it's highly amusing

Over the last 12 months when hasn't a second referendum been a mater of discussion? usually by the same journalists, the same news papers and the same people that wanted to remain :LOL:

It's like When blair comes out of his crypt every couple of months to register his dislike at brexit and all of a sudden, people that don't understand the Eu, like Ashtree, fall for it every time.

@Ashtree apologies for the digression, but since you're here... I've heard an interview with your own PM, and then a statement from your foreign minister contradicting him somewhat regarding insinuations as to where the UK's border should be - also saying that the Irish have reason to be angry with UK for voting for Brexit... o_O.

Is Dr Varadkar generally perceived as a competent politician over there, or is he seen as a bit of a token tool?

The opinions I hear from my own family in the Republic are somewhat clouded by several factors, the first being that they dislike him and Fine Gael generally; so it will be interesting to hear another opinion.

i think the smugness of remainers will only embolden the hard brexiteers, plus those who voted remain and just want to get on with it
