Brexiteers wanted!

Hiya, I’m Liv from Warrington and I’m currently doing some research for my bachelor’s thesis on why people voted for Brexit and would love to interview anyone who was willing to talk a bit about yourself, why you voted for Brexit, and why it was important to you. I’m looking at it in terms of how Big Data from Facebook has been used to influence democracy and democratic processes but more specifically I want to look at why targeted ads in the Brexit referendum were so effective. I want to see why maybe you wanted to Take Back Control, how you might have previously felt unheard, and how Brexit may have also been chance for you to have a voice. Because of this, it would be great if anyone interested was also using Facebook at the time. I’m hoping for an informal chat, purely for my own research, and would love for anyone interested to get in touch by replying to this thread.

HI Liv,

Good luck with that. You'll probably see quite soon there will be no shortage of people telling how you should be doing your research.
(If you do any follow-up with the views of people ready to tear their own heads off rather than suffer in Brexitland, just post again.)

I was brought up , lived and worked before the EEC and the creeping paralysis of the EU. I witnessed the attack on the very things that my forebears held dear and fought for and my country were financing this attack from public funds. I am not anti co-operation nor other cultures or nations. but the EU is a bureaucratic high maintenance monster with an agenda that aims at forming a federal state.
The Brussels /Strasbourg charade is a clear indication that there is more about this posturing organisation than is necessary for running a simple trading bloc.

I would be really interested in talking to you about this further if you were up for it?

He’d be one of your better bets. Some of them are complete loons

I guess you don't want me to state that you didn't vote in the Referendum but spent years complaining about the result, in fact you're still complaining.

And best of all, you don't even live in the UK any more.

Work that one out.

@Liv .. and given the fact you agree with this Left wing retrograde and you've stated Facepain has any influence - especially given the fact older people who don't use Facepain voted predominantly Brexit .. WTF planet are you on ? "Check your privilage" etc.

Probably effects us you more you (at the moment) but there you go. I wouldn’t think I’m complaining much, more just poking a bit of fun🤷‍♂️. I’m sure in real life you must have more of a sense of humour 🤔

I personally wouldn't seek to judge anyone based on their posts on TFF or indeed anywhere else. I don't post on here to friends, relations or colleagues. I do that at home and at work.

I wouldn't talk to others how I post on forums .. no consequences here as we all know. Therefore attributing personality traits as a result is prone to error .. like not voting in a referendum ......

I bought a property in France in 1990 for use as a holiday home and to experience the way of life should I wish for a change. My daughters had been left considerable sums and were well placed for independence so I felt I could make a break. I found France to be very different but some aspects positively appealed, some did not. In 1998 I could see problems, sold up and have never regretted it or been back since.

Yep, loads love it, loads go back. I am lucky enough to love it here, wish I could get the language better to just have banter chat, I really miss that. Nothing to do with France particularly but I’ve mucked up a bit and got myself working non stop with no exit plan in sight for my lifetime (in fact the only exit plan appears to be death), so I do sometimes say my choice would be to sell up, lock stock and buy a place on the beach near San Francisco (English speaking and climate being way up there) but my wife says she wouldn’t go with me if I did that so...
I’ll continue complaining 😂

Cameron said he was going to reform from within the EU, Junker dismissed him, when a little drunk from a one horse country like Luxembourg talked down to our PM I realised that I was a leave voter, up until then I was leaning that way but had no strong preference.
The very man was kicked out of government in his own country but by all accounts now thinks that we have been treated badly and has been openly critical.
My late father in law used to work in the European parliament in Strasbourg so you would expect him to have been pro EU (he spoke 7 European languages), but he was very anti EU EU actually maybe because he saw how it worked !
Strasbourg is a lavish and expensive gesture of Franco-German unity. o_O
