Radio 2 been plugging queen all morning because he was on .
He couldn't resist talking about Badgers and his pet project in Devon with a trial on a farm not far from here.I would love to know how much he's getting out of it .!
How the farms clear now working with a vet Sibley .
Oh and no wildlife has been harmed!

The farm hasn't even been clear for six months yet, fully housed herd would have been able to hot fence around buildings without Dick and Brian help or am I missing something?

Know probably more than most about that farm and they have badger setts very close to the buildings and badger loving people living in houses overlooking sett.
Setup would be very hard to badger fence though they have tried to secure buildings.

Tbh. I don’t think Tb is the biggest issue there.

But fair dues to him and Dick for getting Brian more intouch and onside with farmers.

Mates farm opposite to farm entrance and did said setts are very close, but they feed on outside of shed, is that area badger proof?

I want to make sure I have got my head around this... these fellows are, basically, advocating intensive indoor units for the cattle, is that right? Am I the only one that recalls the furore around the Nocton plans, with CIWM and all the usual suspects against it?

I'm against intensive stuff like that too, but I'm not against badger control. I'll be fascinated as to how they reconcile these things and am counting down to when the first loony says the magic word 'veganism'... :banghead:

And too plough your ground to berry your slurry, had tb vet here this week and was telling to do this, currently have 10 acres of oats, so would have to put slurry from 500ish cattle on 10 acres, EA would love that:banghead:

I would have thought that if they have a healthy tb free colony of badgers on the farm that will discourage any infected badgers from coming in, possibly more effective than trying to fence them all out.

According to the Radio news Brian May has had a falling out with Michael Eavis over the badger cull and is no longer playing Glastonbury.

Good for Eavis for sticking to his guns.
Am I the only one who finds it a bit odd that an intensive dairy farming, pro badger cull, pro hunting farmer simultaneously manages to be the darling of hippies, environmentalists and the left wing?

I did see and article that said that seemed to suggest that Eavis didn't feel that Mr May's band were right for Glasto anyway!! (y)
