Bernard 26, of a normande xbred , with a Sem17 behind her,
2 more B26's, and a general shot of the group of hfrs, looking well
failed to get some more Sem 17's, or a Bas 8, they kept mugging me, so couldn't snap them.

bit more cooperative today, 1st one is a Bas 8, the next two are mainly Sem 17
eating the last bit of rape off, lasted a long time. Not sure what feed value is in it now, but hfrs look alright. Bas 8 is a 2nd calver, that didn't get i/c till late, a july calver. Out of a 'proper' friesian cow, bit to small for us now. The rest due oct.

Is she very small or is the rape really high? 😂
the rape had a growth spurt, we have to drive through it, to move the fence, its well over the top of my jimny.
but yes, she is quite small, smaller than we would like, would have sold her, with the spr lot, but not i/c, but the bull got her. Her mother was a 'showstopper', lovely fr cow, so we will calve her, and run her round.
Sons been helping a friend today, friend managed 47ppl last month, 250 jerseys, wonder if we will ever get that high.

re

reckon with what we have to get rid of, plough, was hoping a min-til type cultivation. But all good stuff going under, help build soil up.
We did min till, where well grazed no problem, where we flailed it much more challenging, lots of trash, but got it in with with the contractors disc drill... time will tell the results, all learning.

I understood that you shouldn't graze any brassica that's in flower due to issues with anaemia and liver damage.

I wasn't aware of this, brassicas fed off and no issue noticed, cows loved it, hopefully nothing subclinical occurs.
Only a small part of their diet though, mostly silage bale.
