British friesian bulls

Demand for Friesians outstrips
The British Friesian breed had another great trade with eleven bulls sold topping at 4200gns to average £2901. The Bell family once again topped the British Friesian trade with Nerewater Gallant who was purchased by Mr Howard from Blackburn. He was bred from five generations of Excellent or Very Good dams all with lactations over 9000kgs.
Nerewater bulls had tremendous scale about them. My guess is you could’ve sold double the 11 Friesian bull at good trade.

Their ebi would be around €150 lower than the grazing bulls. Not high enough fats and proteins. So therefore, you're leaving profit behind you by using them.

That may change. Isn’t there an ongoing debate this year about how useless the grazing rat’s bull calf is? Even crossing with beef semen and the finisher can’t get enough carcass weight. Can see BF becoming popular again down south.

There is. As I say, I don't agree with them but that's their advice. They also don't recommend holsteins. As in none of cogents bulls should be used.

The build of the bf is attractive, but the article on the previous page, 6200 liters of milk at 7.5% solids is way behind the game. Sub 500kg solids.

Yeah, they do. Probably didn't make myself clear. Some are even 100% Holstein but bulls like titan, yamasaka, perseus, Mr.grey, Lancaster etc don't make the recommended list.
Holsteins produce to much milk Frisians to little it’s no surprise the Irish want grass rats. I wonder if the carcass weigh issue would be addressed with a switch to char or Sim bulls.

We crossed a lot of cows with the Friesian and have found them to be very hit or miss, their temperament lets them down and they can really lack milk as heifers. But the good ones make really good cows and are really fertile.
