British Standards for building new CSS tracks

The guidance given in the handbook for building new tracks, under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, says "all capital works carried out must meet the relevant British Standards - examine copies of the most up-to-date standards for guidance". It doesn't say what the relevant British Standards are. I've had a look on the BSI website (which is where the link in the paperwork directs you) but there's nothing obvious.

Does anyone know which standards we should be complying with? Thanks

I couldn't find anything when we put in out tracks last year , so we just followed the guidence in the mid teir manual which says min 2.4 m width min 150mm depth compacted and blinded , and used a membrane, although we made them 3 m wide with 200-250mm depth of stone ,
Oh and take lots of pictures

Did you get planning permission? Do you need p/p for new tracks?

Yes we did get planning , I think the grant says you need planning , we also got planning for the "yard renewal " concrete ,
Wouldn't normally bother with planning for either but as it was a grant thought we better had.
It was the 28 days notice type planning

Does it specify the type of stone? I was a bit dubious about 150mm of MOT even on a membrane on some of our soils, and lobbed crushed hardcore onto the membrane then 150mm of MOT, in a grant funded job some years ago. Been a good job, and holds up to light traffic.

I dont think it did specify type , we used 75mm crusher run and topped off with scalping's , 200/250 deep mainly
Sent pics in and they paid up no probs

That is what I am led to advise. I have an application in for Prior Approval at the moment and the council calculated the area to include the new access track (crushed hardcore not concrete), concrete apron and building. 765m2 for a 270m2 building.

Hmm ok when I did my application for full planning (the stupid 3m within 3km of an airfield) the fee was only based on building floor space.

But want to put in for PD for a new track which might be over the 1000m2

As I understand it when you make a Full Planning Application the fee is based on the "more expensive" part which would have been the shed.

Our Hay barn needed full planning as within 3km of Panshanger Airfield (since closed).

It's 6 metres tall but right next to trees over 25 metres!

I told the lady who came out to ours if its 3m off the ground, its gone through a row of trees, the house, 2 sheds and a sileage heap, so there won;t be much left before it gets to the new shed :)

It really is a fecking rediculous rule, 3km of heathrow maybe but to class gras strips the same is just stupid.
