I'm never ashamed to be British, although the actions of some Britons do sometimes disgust and or anger me. I am an ex-soldier, officer of the Court, blood donor, charity worker and more; my mother is a retired nurse, forty years in the NHS; my father lost a leg in the service of this country and created businesses that employed nearly a hundred people and paid an awful lot of tax into the exchequer; yet we all have / had 'nationalistic' views, are we bad people?
I don't like the rent-a-mob anarcho international socialist one-world lefties that always turn up and create havoc at anti-whatever 'demos'. But I don't equate them with most socialists, whose views I don't have much time for but who are not bad people just because of them...

Can't see why you would say this.
The UK is one of the most tolerant nations in the whole world. Most football supporters are not as "advertised" in the news stories. Most people in the UK are great.

Funny that, I had a holiday there last week around the holt area. Seems to be all office workers and civil servants from the city. They must bring in a fair amount of cash? Couldn't get in any pubs for supper all full! Not good for house prices for locals though I bet?

While on the point of national characteristics look what would happen on a corridor train (remember them?) with two of each Irish,Scots, Welch and English in each cab along with some alcohol.
The Irish start arguing and fight,
The Scots get blotto and unconscious.
The Welsh form a choir and start singing
The English form a committee and one stabs the other in the back to become Chairman.

Well it's the euros and the TV's cameras will show up the national characteristics.
The Irish will drink, sing and party. That's what they always do and they don't fight.
The scots unfortunately didn't make it so they are home.
The Welsh will definitely sing any well they might as it's been many a long day since they made the finals.
The English of course will also drink and sing. However the usual mini club of thugs with that menacing aura and look about them will let the whole country down. The TV cameras of course will focus only on those and the whole country gets smeared with the negative headlines. The people of the EU will say good riddance[emoji52]
