Broadcasting seed 24m

I'm looking for a machine to broadcast stubble turnips and cover crops into a standing crop of wheat. A Kuhn Aerospreader is the obvious choice but they don't come up for sale often and new would be too expensive. Does anyone else have any idea? We tried with our fertiliser spreader one season but it didn't spread wide enough. Stubble turnip seeds is slightly smaller than OSR seed and quite light. We have a tractor with row crop wheels

You need a valmar applicator mounted to an old sprayer boom. mounted Would be best as it’s less wheel marks. Fan runs off of tractor and pipes attached to the boom. I had one mounted on an 80ft set of degelman heavy harrow. In wet years thousand of acres of canola would be seeded with them. Very accurate an no crazy expensive. Could be sold under salford name now since the takeover.

I've now explored several options. My preferred option now is to to buy a cheap mounted sprayer for less than<£3,000. We'll remove the end boom section and attach two slug pelleters approx 8-10m apart. Not sure about the spacing. 2 @ 8m would be even spacing for our 24m tramlines but would more or less be better? I can pay a bit more for 2 pelleters with vario speed controls which I think would be worthwhile and allow us to get it just right for turnip seed.

Anyone done anything similar? Good idea or am I better looking at other options?

Have had prices for Stocks, Logic and Bullock Tillage applications. Stocks most expensive, Bullock cheapest. All seem pretty good. Any comments from people who have them?

I have a Bullock one, which is actually a DeLimbe machine, which is very well regarded make. I can’t fault it really, regardless of being better priced than most.
I put stubble turnips on with it this year, mounted on a small trailer behind the quad and spreading evenly at about 12m spacing (down each tramline in stubble, and then back between them). The crop came up evenly enough.

I would imagine a full spreader bolted 6m out on the boom would be plenty of weight tbh, and heavier than the boom section you would be removing.

Given the price of buying 2 spreaders, would you not be better buying a small airseeder (Bullock?) and piping it out to spreader plates across the whole boom?

Looked into this a couple of years ago and your better off just getting a Techneat Outcast machine with a big hopper. They blow the seed out to mini spreaders which sit on the booms.

Thanks @D14
Just looked at their website and had a chat with a very knowledgable and helpful chat at Techneat. An Outcast V2 applicator with 3 spreaders is going to set me back about £6,000. I think this will be better option and not a lot dearer than the S/H sprayer and pelleters option. Anyone tried turnips though an Outcast machine?

We've been doing it for a few years now and it works really well, turnips and mustard are perfect. Have tried other cover crop mixes and they spread fine but don't always grow well in standing crops. Outcast works really well, just watch the middle spinner, the pipe work has to be less than 1.0m from the manifold to the spinner from memory and because it reduces in size it's very prone to blocking. And of course you can't see it if its behind the tank!

Go to delimbe website direct. There’s was half the price albeit with green instead of clear hopper and postage was half price too from France rather than England to NI
