Hi anyone had problems with Broadway flowering and then failing to set pods. Told it's late frost and pollen beetle.Sprayed for pollen beetle at threshold level. Grown OSR for 30 years never seen anything like it.

Pollen beetle won't hurt it if it's flowering and if they damaged the buds the flowers won't open anyway, so flowering and not setting isn't down to them.

Could be centurion max. Frost ,pollen beetles and flea beetle larvae
I don't know about centurian max because I've never used it but it's blatantly obvious that this year clomazone has knocked crops.

I sprayed my rape with fungicide and trace elements today and a lot of the poorer patches correspond exactly with over laps of the sprayer and where noticable bleached by the clomate inbthe autumn. An area around a telegraph pole which hasn't been treated at all is a foot taller and full of pods where as some of the other has rather disappointing pod set.

Variety is elgar. Why should chemical damage be especially noticeable this year???

Dryness? I've residual damage in rape from the previous years su I'm almost certain. Although they also correspond with a change in soul texture, so the rape in those bits have the hardest time - cloddier seedbed, more weeds, stand wetter when it does rain etx.

I think in my case it's death by many cuts for my rape.

Previous crop had a late spring dose of ally max which may have had an effect- although the rape looked marvellous up to the end of Jan. The clomate pre em has certainly knocked the crop in places. A cock up with uneven spreading of the autumn fert left parts of the field hungry over winter. All the poorer part are where the csfb damage is the worst and has then allowed the pigeons in. On top of that the dry spell and some frosts has knocked these slower developing backward parts quite hard causing poor pod set and a lot of flowers aborted.
