Broilers - Gross margin p m2 wk?

Hi.

I have encountered a measure of broiler performance named "Gross margin p m2 wk".

Does anyone know the formula to calculate this please?

Not too sure what you mean by Gross Margin
I am aware of a calculation to give a margin/SqMtr/wk after taking of feed and chick costs
Some figures
gross output 34800
Feed cost 19146
Chick cost 7462
Sq Mtrs 1146
Cycle length 50 day

(((34800-(19146+7462))/1146)/50)*7
and I make that 100p/Mtr2/wk
Figures estimated on a 20,000 bird flock

What’s the comparison between returns on free range hens and broilers

Been priced recently for free range meat birds @ not enough to live on with an investment return of 10% and all risks!

Then there is the potential (past experience of proccessor insolvency)

All this lot comes out of the figure that I had exampled of 100p/MtrSq/wk
