I've a flock here that is based on just 6 ewes and 3 rams, they've been a closed flock for nearly 50 years, most years only 3 rams are used, and some years only 1 ram, I have never had a jaw issue. In breeding doesn't cause faults, it just exposes the faults that are already there.Alot of successful flocks have line or inbred during the years have they not? Had a look at my Uncle’s (Garthlwyd) old flock on i texel few months ago and his early ewes had an inbreeding coefficient as high as 19% and he had a successful run for 24 years selling over a 100 tups at year at builth ,welshpool ect.
