Yeah we had 1 for years it would put decent size posts in no bother I welded a longer plate on to knock in stabs over the top of wires and get a better hit on big posts they're a simple thing but work fine

Baling contractor put up a fence for me years ago and had one, watched him do a bit and it looked a tidy machine, only thing had to reverse up to each post, his had a threaded handle to level it up and it looked fine to use.

A neighbour had 1 that was mounted straight onto the linkage so no side shift like the 1 in the pic has .

Ours was as per the picture but with manual adjustments for the hammer and hydraulic side shift you had to be spot on parking up to get the post in a ready pierced hole as there was nothing to move it forward or back a bit but you soon got used to doing it .

I added a counter weight to the opposite end and it was a better outfit to use it's still in regular use after it's original owner claimed it back ( a family member of my boss ) we now mostly use a contractor

Now if you had come and asked :ROFLMAO: I would have told you they are good post drivers, I have had one for nearly 20 years, it will drive in anything up to a fair size gate post, easy to use once you get the hang of it, don't need a very big tractor for it either
let me know if you see another , wouldnt mind giving one a try , got 20 odd acres to fence next winter on my own (so need that spool for the hammer )

The dilemma of 'it looks cheap but I don't want to alert anyone'.
:D
not so worried about cheap , we have a parmiter to sell (needs 2 people ) not adjustable either , the one in the sale yesterday i took to £680 +premium / vat etc but needed pipes replacing + adjusters freeing off and ram looked a bit pitted , and i wasnt sure they were any good ,

We used to borrow one from a neighbour years ago, the basic model which you had to back up to the posts, very heavy but not much control and the screw adjusters can be hard work. Be careful if your using one, it always felt like you had to be quite up close and personal to the mast which unlike most machines is going to be hitting the ground, you can use it on your own but you wouldn't want to do too much.
