BT Cloud

Had problems with this since last year when BT announced a new version. Apart from the initial 4 hour upload, (some people were having many times this) it seemed to be backing up files when prompted. The old version did it automatically and the BT forums are full of complaining customers waiting for an improved version due out sometime, modified files are uploaded and dumped any old how, but presumably there are up there somewhere if I have the patience to find them. We switched from BT the other week to a wi fi system. At 10Mb it seemed fast but dropped off quickly in the evenings to sometimes under 2mb, as bad as BT. Complained to the company who said it because we could be zooming or skyping which would slow it down, we weren't. Were we using BT cloud ? This could be the problem. I was sceptical of this at first, but daily checking our uploads I found we were uploading 10's of Gbs to BT Cloud, despite our stated capacity of only 4 Gb ! I assume only updated files are uploaded, which in our case might be a few lines of text a day, can't see how this could amount to much.
One answer from BT is to run Cloud when you are out for the day or having a meal and do not need to use the computer.
Turned off BT Cloud, the download and upload speeds are now constant and have ordered a back up drive.
Do Microsoft or Google iclouds have this problem ?

I use Apple Cloud and it doesn't interfere with computer use in the slightest as far as I can see. I think it stops uploading if there is other activity, giving the other activity automatic priority.

Microsoft OneDrive is limited only by your internet speeds.

I would not rely on BT for anything and I certainly would not rely on their email or cloud services.
