BT phone line zip tied to my fence. Where do I stand if I cut it?

Moving bales today and discovered bt has zipped tied a phone line on to my fence. A line has been bought down from the pole and then zipped tied along my fence for about 100m and then goes back up a pole at the end of the field. There is even a junction box where the wire splits in to 2.

Can I charge them rent for using my fence!?

Obviously I need to cut the fence line back tight with the hedge trimmer.

That’s terrible, but unfortunately just typical for BT/Awfulreach.

Last year we had something similar with wires at head height crossing both a gateway and footpath. I spent hours trying to sort it direct with Openscreach to no avail, so then put some livestock in the field who promptly ripped the offending wire to pieces and were then photographed running around the field with wire around their necks. As there was no wayleave I them denied them any further access to the field and pointed out the HSE breaches to their regional safety team.

You have to be very noisy on this or they will ride roughshod over you. Kick up a fuss and do it quick.

I have an amoured cable taped to my fence, and just chucked on the top of another hedge. Worse thing though, I found this rubbish in the grass near one of their joints 🤬🤬🤬🤬

So what happens when I cut my second cut, and these lengths of wire get big baled and one of the cows eats them 🤷🏻‍♂️ (Rubbish in first pic was found 3ft into field)
🤬🤬🤬
Oh and there's another piece where they threaded it through the sheep netting :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Take the next dead sheep and drop it at their depot

Did openreach fit the cable or just supply it to the quarry... the existing line to our property and our tenants is faulty, it has sufficient good pairs for what is currently connected but there are no working unused pairs so they can not get him a broadband connection.. the solution from openreach was to say here you go, have this new cable, we will connect it at both ends but open reach will not trench a cable in. Tennant has a trenching machine and was bored on part furlow so he jumped at a chance for something to do  So far he has only cut right though the existing cable once (it seemed the cable headed in one direction away from the intended trench but bizarrely the line actually then doubles backs 10m in the wrong direction ) Last I looked he was still 20m, a stream and a stone track from reaching the junction box.

This looks like the sort of home wiring my mother would criticise my father for.

Last week the Openretch engineer zip tied my phone line to the rose that grows along the front of the house. I suppose it is easier than drilling into stone, but is going to make pruning a bit of a gamble...
A few years ago all the phones on our road went off when a neighbour had trimmed his house hedge with an electric trimmer......as well as the cable.

The line is for a Cornwall Council owned quarry. Quite a big operation with a tarmac plant and a ready mix plant. I get on ok with the quarry staff so might go have a chat with the manager.

If you’re gona cut it can you do it on a Friday afternoon so the quarry can notify openreach and it might be sorted again for Monday morning.

A few years ago we needed a pole moved to be able to get into a field, rang bt numerous times with no luck, in the end my dad went down with the shear grab and cut the wires before pulling the pole out, bt were out fairly sharp to sort putting in a new pole, a neighbour was talking to the guys fixing it, they said “think the farmer sorted the pole position problem out himself ok”

On another incident awhile ago another neighbour took to rotavating and reseeding the junction outside his house so he could mow it with the lawnmower, he managed to chop the underground phone wires, bt came and sorted but had to come out a second time as they joined the wires wrong and our neighbours phone number was ringing our house and vice versa.

Have caught and pulled down a few low phone lines with a rake over the years. Never heard of anyone getting billed for damaged phone lines yet

If it's a business line they will attempt to fix within one working day, so you phone it in on a Friday it won't be fixed till Tuesday.
But if your a residential number like my mother, she is over a month with out phone and broadband !!!
