Yes it has it was the main reason we did not join when we had Steven Buckley in our yard a few years ago asking us to join ! But does anybody out there know if the 20p story is tru ?

Hector's dream was to send a fleet of Refrigerated trucks of Yorkshire milk to supply London.
ARLA seem to be managing that from Stourton quite nicely thank you.
The last time I was in Dry Hill the lab was staffed by our Asian brethren and the work in the bottling plant was undertaken predominately by Eastern Europeans.

Sorry, no idea if the sub 20p is fact or fiction but Potter is usually somewhere in the ballpark

Potter says thatMedina is going to use its cheaply bought milk to supply Iceland who they have just stolen the contract away from Arla. He says FFA are planning some action against Iceland anybody up for a bit of picketing?

  8. CG 95. jtt here .. central Scotland .. Iceland is a hellish place i mean glaciers volcanoes hot springs .. SORRY seriously I'm going to Iceland in Stirling next week for a look. May have my very muddy wellies on when I complain to management about there business practices .. Oh will have to check if they buy any milk from Graham's first though .. It could be called the dirty protest .. the Irish will understand what that means .. just go shopping in Iceland in your working gear. Now I think that idea could catch on. ps when I'm dirty I'm very very very dirty. ... jtt

I like your thinking, much better to embarrass them in front of their customers than standing on an industrial estate all night with the media filming an expensive machinery parade.
Take with you some info showing current spot price, average costs of production and current milk cheque to show the public and the media.

Wouldn't a filthy farmer be embarrassing himself and our industry more than anyone else ?
Pleased to see FFA are still going. Didn't Handley say he'd be out if the job didn't pick up about 12 months ago ? At least he's a consistent hypocrite.

  11. I don't get easily embarrassed ..

I would think the filthy farmer bit would be more of a publicity stunt, something to provoke a reaction/get an interest, especially from the press which is why I also mentioned taking some info regarding farm gate prices, cost of production and spot price to highlight the difference from one end of the scale to the other.

I agree with the principle but I think exposing shoppers to the smell and sight of a filthy farmer would be an own goal. The modern farmer surely must be portrayed as a clean hardworking businessman ?

Rumour has it that they have quite a few farmers handing notice in.

Strong rumour has it one large producer left without handing in his notice and Medina are taking him to court for breaking his contract
