Have seen a 2008 Ford ranger thunder, only downside is it has an auto box. Anyone know what the auto were like for reliability? Sounds like your area expertise maybe @Cowabunga

I don't know what the auto box was like on that age of Ranger. The manual box did have some rare issues with jumping out of fifth if I remember correctly.
That's getting on a bit for a pickup. Check the chassis very carefully for terminal rust as well as the general mechanical condition. Don't be tempted to pay too much for such a vehicle. I'm sure there are very nice ones around but most will be well past their best at nearly 13 years of age.

See the video in the post above↑ for more truth than many want to know about aged pickups.

Don’t make them like that anymore unfortunately. Low mileage versions are about but few and far between.Won’t be a mainline vehicle maybe 4-500 miles a month, had 2 and bought 3 for a couple friends/work and not been a bad one ..........yet 🙈

I sold my immaculate 07 Ranger cheap to my cowman's son who took it off road, up a hedge and into a tree , within a couple of months. :dead:

This was quite popular with farmers around here in the early seventies, quite good ground clearance and surprising good offroad with only
fromt wheel drive.

My first car!
A small farmer up the road (who was also a renowned expert on sugar beet and whose son is a guru on grey partridges) had it for sale for £75. I was 16 and itching to get on the road as soon as I was 17.
After a lot of haggling I knocked him down to £zero.
A big end was gone so my dad helped me put a secondhand engine from a breakers.
It was a hell of a job to set the tappets so that it didn’t sound like a bag of nails.
I shifted it on as soon as it got an MOT and traded up to a mini pickup.

not really what your after but you can ride in luxury,

that is the weirdest dealers ive ever been to, its a multi storey car park they either rent or have bought and its full in every carspace over aronud 3/4 levels of cars forsale, seems well dodgy to me :censored: money laundering springs to mind

It does look odd, and have you seen the amount and value of their entire stock?

Our company bought and sold hundreds over the years. The best ( but you pay for it ) are the Toyotas by quite a long way. Then come the L200 ( iffy autos and rear springs crack ) and the Navara ( rusty chassis issues - electrical issues but nice to drive ).
I like the Isuzu too but check for oil leaks
£7K Would buy a good 2.5 or 3.0 Invincible. I would go for an auto on the 3.0, the 2.5 needs to be manual as a bit gutless. Very few issues with them over lots of miles. I have owned a few myself and apart from a wire on a rotary switch coming adrift never spent anything on them apart from usual things like tyres and brakes
