To be fair that is what government is there for,to make the difficult decisions for society in peacetime and war.I agree, I am expecting to have to wait a couple of years before big tax rises.
Not worrying about it this year too much in any case.
Government is stuck between a rock and a hard place through no fault of their own.
Labour on the TV wanting everything for nothing again.
were we not maxed out a couple of years ago after Tony and Gordon spent everything? To be fair that is what government is there for,to make the difficult decisions for society in peacetime and war.

Fuel taxes are a tap in at the moment. Fuel is cheap, not much has been bought or used lately comparatively and pollution levels are low which is pleasing everyone. Easy increase to push through right now.I fully expect an increase in fuel duty, alcohol, tobacco etc the soft targets so to speak. This will please the green lobby no end. Road fund tax increases is another option. I could go on but !!!
We must be on Wonga .com now.......were we not maxed out a couple of years ago after Tony and Gordon spent everything?
At about the same time Greece effectivly called in the liquidators?
VAT was introduced as part of the process of joining the EEC, since we are now leaving, we can adjust the vat rate without asking permission from the EU.Can’t see them going that far. VAT brought in a little over £130 billion last year, 20% of all HMRC receipts.
That’s a big ‘ole chunk of tax revenue.
