With the budget out of the way, the real direction of tax policy will be set out on an aptly named “Tax Day”, which will be a series of tax consultations.

Having had no mention in the Budget and following two reviews by the Office for Tax Simplification it can only be expected that an overhaul of IHT and CGT is on the way.

Given that these taxes currently get paid by very few, mostly wealthy people, and the multiple ways to avoid then, I'd say they are fair game.

Iht especially has an especially high "fear of having to pay it" Vs the reality of how many actually do factor.

One day, they are just going to have to tax house prices. Political suicide though. Best of start taxing money moved offshore.
