Looking for a budget round baler only gonna make 250/300 bales a year, contracter would be the cheapest, but I like machinery and suffering . Any recommendations? Will be used for silage

If you want minimum budget and maximum suffering,buy a JD545 baler,and throw in an old Tanco wrapper for good measure

Later Claas 46 wide pickup is fairly idiot proof when one or two little mods have been sorted.
Won't make the hardest bales, and wants to be haylage weight bales, not wet silage weight. But given that, plenty of bang for your modest buck.

Can't fault my New Holland 650 Bale command

Paid £1000 4 seasons ago, it's only had a couple of bearings and a couple of belts, I knew the belts were ropey when I bought it...

The old Deutz balers or later Greenland made a good bale but most now have gone to export

Avoid the JD the Netting systems were designed by Putin to destroy agriculture by sending the farmer insane!

Net wasn't the worst of it. As long as you used white net you could see between the belts whether it had gone on or not.
