Budget tyres v. Premium brands

Need to replace 2 sets of tyres-1 on ploughing tractor and 1 on loader tractor. Price difference between budget tyres (BKT) and premium brand (Michelin) is over 2K for the both sets. Both tractors do about 700 hrs year each including roadwork. Question is- is the price difference worth it?

I would say yes on the ploughing tractor as you can run them at a lower pressure (more grip, reduced compaction). The loader tractor on the other hand I would say not as they tend to do a lot of shunting around in a yard.

BKT's have the same load capacity's of leading tyres so no problem for loader tractors. Great tyres at good value and tyres are way cheaper than this time due to pound v euro. Around 20% saving from tyres I priced last year!!!!
Very impressed with the BKT tyres I have run.

I had this same situation in the spring replacing some continentals that fell apart with 75% tread left. In the end I went for a half way house with vredestein, and so far I'm very impressed.

Last set we bought were Michelins as they had a promotional offer on at the time. There was still about £700 diff between them and the cheapest option.

Was advised by tyre salesman not to put bkts on loader tractor would push cleats in with all weight on loader, damaging tyre. Bought kleber in end from someone else. I don't rate firestone either. Annoyed that new tractor came with them fitted.

This year I had a set of 4 Michelin's and a set of 4 Klebers on tractors. Klebers were bought because of their money back offer to be honest but don't grip any where near as well or as smooth on the road as the BKT rears that moved to another older Tractor in my fleet because the GY fronts were bold and put 4 new tyres on.
These BKT tyres have been really good and worn far better than any thing else I've had. They pulled a dump trailer for over a month in the spring that fully loaded was around 20 tons on mainly road work but with some very wet field conditions and pulled well with no noticeable wear. They also held the back end of the Tractor far tighter when turning on headlands with my Fusion baler than the new Klebers do that regularly let traction go and slide sideways.
Firestone's just horrid for uneven wear and having worn VERY quickly. No thanks again!!!!

firestone are rough as feck on the road and come with about 3/4 the tread of any other make which then in turn melts off,

I've no first had experience of klebers but bkt are far more popular for a reason

Bkt are well priced and wear well, my latest set of 710/70r38 are aabit rough on the road at 10-20k but that's the only complaint, considering I bought 2 bkt for the same price as 1 710 michelin Machxbib which are also rough at certain speeds as I have another tractor fitted with them, also got bkt 650/65r42 on tractor which are excellent,

What sizes?
I would say that the Michelins are worth the extra, if you are keeping them for at least 5/6 years.
If you are looking at 65 aspect tyres, eg 650/65/38's, Kleber are well worth pricing.

And if problems occur with a tractor before that time so it gets changed early would premium brand tyre's make it worth more????????
Doubt it!!!
