Bugs in grainstore - ID?

That looks like a winged booklouse. Where are they? Usually confined to the fabric of the building rather than infest the heap. Not a major pest by themselves but indicative that you should be cooling the bulk ASAP. IMO if the grain buyer found one at intake you might get that lorry back.

Book louse, live of mould I think, generally in the top inch or so of the heap. easily killed through mechanical methods (up an auger or through drier). They are quite fragile.

I have some as well. Nuisance. Feed on tiny things such as fungal spores, pollen, fragments of starch etc - do not cause any primary damage to the grain but might lead to a rejection? Possibly indicates the grain is a tad damp. Usually just on the surface where a touch damper.

Probably will kill the current ones, but still need to sort the cause, else they will be back, damp or out of condition patches.

If they're only in the slightly damp surface stirring would sort it.
I had them in a brand new store many years ago, was told normally where a leaky roof or gutter is making a damp patch.
Never had them since.

Not a harmful storage pest but would cause a rejection all the same.
Bringing the temperature down into single figures would prevent eggs from hatching and break the life cycle.

Never seen this little blighter before. Just had a £5/tonne claim
My decision to not sell all of last years crops straight off the combine just gets ever more expensive!

If you ever over-year grain....be sure to get it gassed.
It gets expensive leaving 30t of grain at the back of the shed, then lumping another 500t on top if you then end up with bugs spreading onto the whole 530t heap!

Hopefully the other 50T will be out this week, though was supposed to have been gone 2 weeks ago, failing that I might be dumping it at the gates of the mill this weekend
Looking at the forecast I won't see a combine here for another 10 days which is both a good and bad thing

If you had sealed silos ( grain bins ) it wouldn't be an issue

I think they are fruit flies,or the flies that live on muck heaps .
