I’ve been round Collinsons and the bins are strapped down in their yard to a specially made frame which is fixed to the ground.

Told me that you can have a fall on the base but it was less than an inch, can’t remember exactly. They said that their drivers always pack the legs up and use a spirit level to make sure they are level. That won’t be anything to do with structural stability, it’s most likely down to doing the job right.

I saw their presentation on bases and making sure that it meets their standards, someone else on here pointed out the cost of the base being incidental when you consider the feed going in them. At around £250 a tonne and 10 tonne a week you’ll put in over £2.5m over 20 years so do it right in the first place.
