I was wondering what might be the approximate weights of bags of a few common building materials. Sand, three quarter to dust, gravel etc.
when our local merchants started doing them they called them 1 ton bags and now i notice they call them bulk bag no mention of weight
As they have no way of weighing a point of sale they cannot sell with a weight specified.
i i pay ,admittidly sixteen ton at a time,20 plus vat for 20 to dust, bag my ownWe have Breedon Quarries locally ,,
They bag various materials onsite for numerous builders merchants.
Just a mountain of bags in different company names on separate wagons.
They bag stuff for my local building supplies ,if I buy a bag of 20 gravel from them ,its over £50per bag yet if I go in with my trailer for the same stuff bulk ,its £34 inc per tn (an actual tonne) not a short weight bag
yes i know that one ,had a bloke i knew in the quarry ,who one day for a laugh dropped about 8 ton on me tranny pick up one day ,he laughed like a drain could hardly see the trannyI get my hardcore from 2 miles away ,,£10 pt ,shovel it into bags ,,as they havent got a weigh bridge and the shovel drivers are very generouse ,I all ways come away with atleast 2 1/2 t.
trying to tip stuff gently out of an 8T bucket into a 10ft trailer is abit hit and miss and a wild guess
