Building a cubicle shed on a budget

Outdoor ones featured too. There is an article in it about low cost kennel type housing.

Outdoor cubicles are becoming more popular though.

No chance of them becoming popular round us,70+ inches of rain round here.

Most doing them here are replacing stand off pads. Few years ago pads were supposed to be fantastic. Up keep cost were too high, and they are not a pleasant environment for cows.

Open top is the latest fashion. Some of the older guys say they were popular 40 odd years ago, most went away from them again.

Open top cubicles would have to generate huge volumes of dirty water that would have to be spread at a not insignificant cost.

We just finished installing rope scrapers in one of these open top setups in Carrick on Suir, I was really impressed with the project. It was the first time I've seen the system. The weather was horrendous while we were there 21st Dec, but yet the cows looked content. The same couldn't be said about us

I think you have to be a very focused person with a very clear farming style to put outdoor cubicles in.

When it's raining do I get the BBQ and deck chairs out and sit outside. Do I hell!!

four bags does fifty cubicles in the kennels (no mats or mattresses)
six bags does 190 in the new shed (de boer mattresses)

Are they on mats @jimmer ? Nice looking buildings, I do like the idea of kennels, cows look very well. Good idea with the strap webbing instead of timber.
