So you just put a bit of sawdust and they lie on concrete? Any hock problems?

no hock probs yet ,they were on chopped straw untill about six weeks ago but were wasting too much and it wasnt going down the slats to the slurry channel so we thought we would try them on sawdust , being a lot lighter than the holsteins we dont expect too many sores from the cubicles

@jimmer eulb headless chicken having been thinking a lot about this idea of 3 rows of cubicles per feed fence, im coming round to the idea that with good managment of groups going to collecting yard n feeding times that its enough feed space but im still not comfortable with cubicles n feed fence on same passage, i want to be able to shut cows in feed passage only after exiting the parlour, both for mastitis prevention n also to allow for easy scraping routine

What about a drop down electric fence wire at the back of the cubicles nearest the feed passage?

Agree that is far to many cases especially on your type of system mp.

I can't comment about home yet as we've not long been going but all things considered they are doing bloody well.

At work we are around. 40 cases per hundred I think. Way too many. I put it largely down to the type of cow and the size of parlour. 50:50 2 men so not enough individual attention.

out of them 40 cases per hundred how many are repeat offenders? first case i tube normaly, second a longer course of different tubes, third long course of tubes plus a bottle of tylan, then dry tubes at drying off along with another bottle of tylan if she still has a high cell count

I would say probably 5/6 but until recently records haven't been good enough here so no one really knew.

We use cobactan + cob injectable on anything that's not ecoli and not too bad

Ecoli or any bad case td + marbocyl 50ml over 3 days.

It works but I don't think they need all that marb. One 20 ml jab to make sure they don't go Ill should be enough really.

At home we use td and tylan as a rule. I like tylan as it gives a bit of cover.
