Building a homemade air seeder.

Hi guys, this spring I built myself an air seeder using an APV airbox and Connor Shea disc units. I've posted this video in my youtube channel thread and thought it was worth putting here also. I will follow up with the rest of the videos in the next few weeks. Please provide any constructive criticisms that you have, this is a work in progress and will be adjusted and modified over the course of this summer and autumn as I find flaws/weaknesses in the design. After I am happy with it I will strip it and get it sandblasted and either painted or hot dip galvanized. Thanks for watching.
Ps. It is still uploading so you might need to wait a couple of hours before watching.

I think your problems may lie with the press wheel. I would have used a bigger one on sealed bearings, but we have more sandy soil type.
Thanks MB, yes the press wheels aren't ideal. They are 250x50 and have a 12mm axle, I wanted bigger ones but these were the largest and sturdiest I could find at the time. I considered making dust caps to protect the bearings and will do so if I have an issue. The biggest problem I have is that the rubber is more solid than I would have liked. Because there is very little flex in the rubber they don't self shed dirt and needs scrapers, it's fine in good conditions but if it's wet it can be a problem. We'll see how they go, it won't be the end of the world if I need to change them for better ones. Cheers.

Yes, that is the benefit of building it yourself. You can see what works and what doesn't, and it isn't costing a boat load of money. Great videos btw, always to see how its done in other parts of the world.

Have you used it yet?
Here are a couple of pics of the drill results. The first one was grass drilled in late Nov, the second is oats that I have baled just today.

Looks like you're getting good results with it already..
Regards the APV box, are you just using the bus for speed input or are you running a sensor? I have one no sensor yet. Debating radar or land wheel.. no speed signal on my old tractor.
