dont know about spec but a friend has built up to first floor n he says has cost no more than 12k so far, about 1200ft footprint n 3 chinmneys
If you own the site buy youself one of those cabins ready to move in in amonth defo buy a fairly big 1 for 40 gss another ten for erection and electricity and water a snip here and a snip there and bobs your aunt

personaly a log cabin type thing would be my choice, but dont think it would add any value to the site
 
Was going down the route of cabin across the yard, in the place of an old static caravan, and TBH, unless you're single, it's a waste of time, the minute you land it there it's worthless, and borrowing for one without planning permission ( as it wouldn't be needed due to old caravan being there) was a dubious proposition at best. Coupled with the fact of space, yes they are quite big, but not so good when you have sprogs. We were going to convert an adjacent stable into a utility room plus office to ease the space issue. Well, after deliberation we have bought our first house, less than a mile away from the farm, which will be ideal for the swap over when the time comes. Living across the yard from your folks ain't ideal either, personal space involves seclusion from the farm as well as just being in another building.

Yeah no what you mean we lived on our site for 4 years lived in a caravan saved about 15 gs 0n rent but worth it in the long run cost us about 60 to 70 plus alot of greys and would need to spend another ten around the outside but its hard to come by

chap in agricultural trader is advertising a new build 2 bedroom tradition build for £65000 or a 3 bedroom traditional bung alow for £75000 , sounds mega cheap up here a 200 sq meter is costing £240000 to £300000 plus site.

You need 4 bed min if you plan to have a couple of baby's no point building a 2 bed then 5 years down the rd have to start to extend do it once make it big enough
