Has anyone had/know of anyone who's had a 3500 tanker barrel made? Thinking of building my own tandem axle tanker🤔🤔 not even entertaining the idea of buying a new one as I'd probably wee a little at the price! 😂 any input appreciated 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

What would the implications of a accident happening God forbid and there being no ce stamp on the tanker would you want to put yourself in that position??
These companies are having to jump through a few hoops

I don’t know just how legal the apparently legal ones actually are until something where to happen.

3500 gallons will be 15.8 tons. Tanker likely weigh at least 4 tons. Maximum legal is 18.29.

Not to sure myself but i

Would like to think company manufacture would have done plenty of stress testing compared to a workshop build one

I see a 6000 gallon running about today down here, at first I thought it was being pulled by a 2640 massey but when I got closer it was actually a new massey with a terrible looking cab

I expect that the cost of getting a one off steel plate rolled into a barrel and buying a pair of dished ends as one offs will make you wince. The likes of Hi-Spec, Red Rock etc will probably make or buy in a batch of parts at one time and spread the set-up costs over a number of units. Buying in a single axle, vacuum pump or PTO shaft will also be expensive unless you can find good second hand parts somewhere. The volume producers will place an order for say 250 axles a year to be delivered at 25 each month. I'd be very surprised if building your own will be any cheaper than buying a ready made tanker.

Machinery manufacturers are aiming to get their 40% mark up, but they are that efficient and have all the gear to do it that it darn near impossible to build it for the 60% figure yourself.
Know a guy who built everything himself, silage trailers, slurry tankers, on top, reelers, gates, ring feeders etc for years but now just buys it, thought he was saving a fortune but now he says he is better of just focusing on the milk cows cause their the ones that make the money.

I did see someone else who shortened a cheap crossland tanker and stuck a drawbar on it, it worked but wasn't the prettiest.

If you have the time and the interest then it's maybe worth a go but maybe buy the tanker and making your own dribble bar might be the best way to save money.
