Built my own shed

after looking at kit barns I felt the quality was just not there so decided to build my own using British steel and British concrete sheets.
The most exspensive part was the galvanising.
But all in all for everything including concrete foundations and concrete walling it's was roughly 15k.
Have a look so far see what you all think.

galvanizing seems expensive because it was probably made on sight and delivered back again, where as this usually forms part of the delivery cost from the manufacture, to me which takes the edge off it.

80 x45 that's for all the gutters and Yorkshire boarding no doors just gates as it's a cattle shed.
Galvanising plant is about ten miles away so I loaded it up onto the bale trailer and took it myself.

Looks good and well thought out- did you have anyone draw it up for you? Nice to see the "blackjack" on the bottoms of the columns as well

Very impressive, a credit to you .............

We get stuff in from China (not much, wish it was more), cheap freight, excellent communications, replace if lost in transit. Might be an idea to keep an open mind, we all have to eat ................

Keep the pictures coming ................. (y)

tidy job, how much do you reckon you have saved?
on a 60ft extension to a 60ft building I reckon I would save £2000 not including weld wire gas or time. this was a quote to my original sections so would match what I would make. this was 4 bays or steelwork and roof etc. I included absolutely everything like for like down to the bolt! paint (too tight for galv!) gutters down pipe fibre cement roof timbers
I thought the biggest saving was putting it up ourselves probably cost us 600 in hiring a tele handler for the week with man basket etc (we have 15 ton cat here any way)
do you cast bolt boxes then measure making every leg slightly different or cast bolt boxes to a set level and just shim up so bang on?
different opinion I don't think second hand buildings are cheap unless you can reuse the roof
I reckon a "straw barn" ie just roof brand new all inclusive is £2.50 per square foot. second hand frames at £1 per sqft are deere as it is more than £1.50 for roof sheets purlins gutters etc (some claim you get bigger steels with 2nd hand industrial but sometimes this isn't a plus as long as the shed is strong enough a large column can get in the way)
Why is it the livestock special 45x100 say is always cheap including everything you alter this slightly and cost goes up massively? price per square foot.

Looks good I hope I can average a new building every other year like you especially them sizes!!
2015 put a 120x60 up planning passed for a 75ft extension (only plan to put up 60ft though for 2017

The quote that we had for it ages ago I would say we have done it for a bit less than half price but not taking our time into consideration or welding gas etc.
But on the up hand we have used British materials.
The footings. just had one of my mates come out with a satalite and as the concrete was being poured into the holes he set the bolts in exactly the right place and poured the concrete to exactly the right height with a laser level so all you have to do put it up. Then when the concrete is dry no messing about getting it all level and in the right place as it's already done.
All our other sheds are 100x50 with leantos.
This one had to be this sort of size as the area it was going in.
