Is there any need for extra bulkers based central Essex. I have everything in place to get a Lorry or 2 on the road. Just looking for feedback if there is genuinely a shortage.

I do understand that the current situation seems to be a lack of drivers. I’m struggling to believe it as including myself I’ve got 3 people wanting to drive lorries I don’t yet own. There’s also only a handful of people who even know about it.

Easy bits getting Trucks Trailers and Drivers....

If you have proper paying work lined up then go for it.

I wouldn't want the hassle for a mean slice of the pie when somebody else has a bigger slice running me ragged.

The proper paying work was really the reason for this thread.

I'd Find proper paying work first then the rest afterwards. No good being a busy fool to be living the dream.
I tried that but no ones going to offer you work before you’ve got an o licence, a Lorry, tascc registered and basically pointing at the gate.
I’m not interested in being a busy fool for anyone.

Looking for local farm work including our own, maybe some aggregate. Not interested in sleeping in a tin box or waiting hours at rdc’s running round the country.

Well I was only asking for opinions as all I keep hearing is can’t get lorries. I’m happy as I am and if it’s not worth doing then it’s not. I’m only going to do it on my terms.

Artics was the thought kicking off mid Jan with tascc for grain being the sticking point. I’ve everything in place for a truck on the road in 2 weeks time but nothing stopping me pulling out. I’m just doubting the actual availability of loads now.

From hard experience.......remember that grain haulage is a low payer, most stuff you can carry in TASCC registered trailers is also low paid, stone and coal etc. The problem for us was trying to get enough back loads from the mills in the NW, the established guys have the best stuff covered.
Empty running could not be covered by top rates into Liverpool or Manchester.

I’ve been offered a couple of loads a day on grain, local work with no need for backloads. I’m not really interested in doing anything away from the south east, I’d rather stay local if it’s possible.
