Is there nobody you can subby to for traction work? Or see if you can jump on quarry/aggregate work & hire a trailer? I’ve just bought another 8 wheeler to be solely on quarry/aggregate work - seems to be loads of work about

I’ve made several calls. The aggregate work all requires an epic card, or to be able to go into London. I’m waiting for a call back about some subby work on bulk and another on containers, traction only. Thanks for the suggestions.

Not sure on the actual cost as the company I work for paid for it, but the EPIC (MPQC now) card is a one day course and can be done online and also counts towards the DCPC. Must admit it was boring as hell and you could have fit the actual quarry stuff into 2 hours, but being online I was sat in a comfy chair with the laptop positioned so I could watch TV as well ;) ;)

So the decision was made and a Lorry is sitting in the yard. The tascc registration is a slow and arduous task. As for the so called driver shortage, spent all day today looking for work that doesn’t need tascc to be met with, nothing going and oh you need ....... to cart that. No wonder we can’t get anything moved there is more red tape than farming!
That would hardly matter over here, it be like, oh you have a lorry, if it starts come on ahead yesterday lol

I think it might end up sitting where it is until I’m up and running where I want to be. It’s not the end of the world and if I keep polishing it will soon be truck show ready.

I can’t understand why anyone would want to run as a sub/franchise to one company. If there was enough money in it they would run their own, their not just sharing it round to be nice are they.
Exactly its Peaks and Troughs.... Especially on boxes. You'll be busy on boxes with the peak just until you hit the the promised mileage bonus... In the Trough you'll have a shiny truck and a thumb up your bum

Just reading back... Drivers are easy to find.... Whether they are drivers you would happily employ is a different story. Plenty of Unemployable floaters out there promising the world with experience such as running to Moscow in 48 Hours and Rungis back before supper.

Had some of this already. I’m not worried if this is my only truck with me driving.
