Bulking up small seed quantities

Spoke to somebody that used rice for low rate osr!

I have used rice for bulking brassicas, and wild flower mixes.

Local Indian supermarket has it for not much money in 20kg bags, and it goes a treat through a drill. Did not seem to settle out either...

the drill hole in the carton { that is to let the seed drop out) with a small bit to start with then progressively bigger if needed, to suit .
put the timer what drops out then work out speed/area covered etc...same as usual

the baler cord pulls the bottle upright to stop seed running out on headland

ive never used the idea mind, keep meaning too .

Thanks for finding the pic. Bury the Trash! You're jolly good at locating it as well as it was in Farm Ideas 15 - 20 years ago. I made one for myself, calibrating the size of hole in the bottle and it worked better than any other method. I tried everything - mixing with fert and seeing the seeds shake up to the top. Never had any 'old' grass seed, but used to top up swards with a few kgs of Augusta Italian to get the pit full. Those were the tail chasing days of farming... maybe they still are here? no, i dont think so.
never new him but an ex. bank manager of mine used to comment positively on his good ideas for saving costs.
